Where's the 'not sure' category?

Zorp, I tried calling myself a pantheist for awhile but it didn't work. I didn't have the same take on it that other pantheists have. I ought to give it another shot. Can't remember now why I didn't resonate with them.

Slowmutant it would depend on how you define mysticist. Are Sufis mysticists? Rumi was a Sufi. Sufis are renegade heretical muslims. Rumi wrote some pretty cool stuff.

How many categories should there be? This thread seeks to determine if belief in God is related to a mental condition or something like that, so making a new thread with proper categories would probably be acceptable to the moderators.

So, what should the categories be?

Yes, No, & Unsure/Agnostic.

These are good categories.

Well taking from wikipedia the definition of pantheism is:
Quote:
Pantheism (Greek: πάν ( 'pan' ) = all and θεός ( 'theos' ) = God, it literally means "God is All" and "All is God".) is the view that everything is of an all-encompassing immanent abstract God; or that the Universe, or nature, and God are equivalent.

Which is why I assumed you were a pantheist, you were saying you believe that God is the universe, or it's all God, or there is no God to believe in, just the universe which are all extremely pantheistic traits.

Yes. I don't think I would be offended to be called a pantheist but it depends on if there is some hidden agenda.

When I said I was a pantheist in the Yahoo religion chatrooms I didn't like the insulting responses I got so I stopped using that term to describe my spiritual path. My particular brand of pantheism seems only affiliated with advaita vedanta as opposed to wicca or paganism.

i am an aspie. I can't answer the poll because its too flat.

Definitions of "god" differ.

What most people mean by that word, no, it doesn't exist.

Yet, there is a "spiritual" reality.

We're referring to what you yourself consider God. When I hear the word 'God' I think of the mythological man in the clouds as described by Christians.

"Man in the Clouds" refers to the Leonardo DaVinci painting entitled God Creates Adam, pictured here.

This, like any depiction of Christ, is of course just an artist's rendering. A symbolic representation of the sublime and unknowable.

faith is trusting in a God u know well and are in a relationship with. i believe in the God of the Bible because i am in a relationship with him and he is my heavenly father. I trust him in all aspects of my life and i know he is the only 1 who i can and should give my all to. he takes care of me in an amazing way.

What is more important to me is whether God believes in me. I haven't seen Him around or heard his footsteps and the written material ascribed to him is much too ridiculous to have been written by a God. So I feel left out.
he does believe in you. while you where still a sinner he sent his son 2 die on a cross and rise from the dead for you. so you could know God. over-wise your sin will get in the way of any meaningful relationship with him.

Insulting by whom? Do they make the direct connection to paganism?
I have had considered pantheism, when questioning about god and religion, but aimed to naturalistic pantheism, Nature=God, rather than the other types of pantheism, mostly a philosophical approach rather than a religious with spiritual/paranormal view.
