Possibly.
Who would have objected to Russia joining NATO?
Poland.

And Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, if you think in that way, but wouldn't membership into NATO make Russia less dangerous?
Part of the same team?

That was the general policy after Cold War - inviting Russia to our team.
But how to make our teammate actually follow the team's rules?

Right now, we're having enough problems with Hungary formally in our team but playing to the other goal.

Mercenary Vladimir Andonov killed by Ukrainian sniper with two Russian generals dead in separate attack, reports claim

One of Vladimir Putin’s renowned mercenaries has been killed by Ukrainian soldiers as Russian forces suffer another loss in their hierarchy after the death of two more generals, reports have claimed.

June 7, 2022

A notorious Russian mercenary, who is believed to have played a crucial role in the mass shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war and execution of civilians in the Donbas region, has reportedly been killed.

Vladimir Andonov, 44, also known as “The Executioner” for his brutality in previous wars he served in Syria and Libya, was shot dead by a Ukrainian sniper in Kharkiv.

“The death in Ukraine of Vladimir Andonov, better known as Vaha, has become known,” Russian publication Moskovsky Komsomolets reported.

“He died last night during a reconnaissance of the area together with his friend.”

News from Ukraine about people in the hobby business; from a newsletter for the hobby shop a forum member in Ukraine runs.

"
Slava Ukraini, !
That's Artem from PM-Store.
It's time to take stock for now.
Now there will be again a little more text than always.
...
During the war, the Ukrainian hobby world had losses too.

The Bad News:

1. One manufacturer from Kharkov, who produces figures in 1/72, said that part of the injection molds of his brands was lost forever. It was all the fault of a russian rocket artillery shell that flew into his garage, where the molds were stored. His brands are Alliance, Red Box, Orion

2. From a fragment or ruzzian rocket, the main artist of the brand Roden was killed in Bucha. This was a great loss for the brand owner as he was a very close friend of his. Perhaps their hit Boeing RC-135 Rivet Joint was his last drawing.

3. We also lost two brands that ended up in the occupied city of Kherson. The Orel brand, which produced paper modeling kits, has been completely stopped. The owner was forced to leave the city and leave the production. The same fate with the brand of resin accessories Kirrey.

4. The Miniart brand was forced to flee the Russian occupation for the second time. And now they are moving production to Poland. In this regard, there will be no new products and production of old models in the coming months, and we (like others) will only sell leftovers.

The Good News:

1. So far, 19 people have taken part in a charity event in our store. $570 has been collected and it has already been donated to the fund, where we help the neighbors from my house and their units that are fighting now. I know these people personally. Thanks to everyone. You will not believe it, but in addition to military ammunition, we even buy socks and underwear. If you want to join - you can purchase this product.

2. Delivery from Ukraine is working better than we expected and getting better. We can share terms:
Germany, France, UK, and other EU - 12-14 days
USA - 14-21 days
Record holder - delivery to the Czech Republic - 7 days.
Of course, not all parcels are delivered in such terms, but we can be sure that delivery will not take ages.

3. We invest in inventory. We decided to support our Ukrainian producers with our orders and thereby expand our stocks. The restocking process will now take less time.

Two British men captured by pro-Russian rebel forces in Ukraine have been sentenced to death and are set to face a firing squad after a sham three-day trial, sparking outrage from the UK and its Western allies.

Aiden Aslin, 28, and Shaun Pinner, 48, were convicted last night of being 'mercenaries' for fighting with Ukrainian troops weeks after they were captured by Russian forces during the siege of Mariupol.

They appeared behind a metal cage at a court in territory occupied by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic in eastern Ukraine as the verdict was read out today.

Ex-British Army soldier Pinner stared at the ground and appeared distraught and close to tears, while former care worker Aslin remained composed. A third man, Moroccan national Saaudun Brahim, was convicted alongside them.

Corruption rundown of Zelensky and pals in post-Yanukovych Ukraine.

https://im1776.com/2022/05/27/servant-of-the-corrupt/

...Zelensky didn’t have trouble incinerating vaunted democratic norms well-before Russia crossed the Rubicon into Ukraine this year. So it was no surprise when he did it again amid the war in late March, invoking emergency powers under martial law to nationalize TV channels and ban 11 opposition parties, including OPZZh — all supposedly done in the name of combatting Russian misinformation and Russian sympathizers, even though OPZZh’s then-chairman, Yuriy Boyko, denounced the war and called for a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. Zelensky, however, wouldn’t miss another opportunity to clip the wings of political opposition in his country, certainly not now that Western media rationalizes and glorifies his every move.

But the portrait of the Ukraine President as a democratic paragon whitewashes the real Zelensky and conceals a vast web of corruption and international skullduggery of which Ukraine is situated in the centre. Understanding the real Zelensky, requires seeing him as a creation of Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky. He is, in truth, a puppet of intrigue.

The Pandora Papers

It might be hard to believe now, but revelations from documents in the Pandora Papers — millions of files from offshore service providers leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and shared with partners around the world — sent Zelensky reeling last year, threatening to end his political career. Though the actor-turned-politico campaigned as an anti-corruption reformer, the Pandora Papers showed him to be just as crooked as his predecessors.

Of more than 300 politicians and public officials, including several current and former national leaders, in more than 91 countries and territories to whom the documents were linked, Ukraine was home to more secret offshore holdings than any other, including Russia. The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which contributed to the investigation, found that just before Zelensky was elected president, “he gifted his stake in a key offshore company, the British Virgin Islands-registered Maltex Multicapital Corp., to his business partner — soon to be his top presidential aide. And in spite of giving up his shares, the documents show that an arrangement was soon made that would allow the offshore to keep paying dividends to a company that now belongs to his wife.”

As it was with crackdowns on free speech and political opposition, Zelensky’s office attempted to justify the use of offshores by blaming the specter of Russian aggression. An adviser to Zelensky’s chief of staff said the offshores were necessary to “protect” the group’s incomes against the “aggressive actions” of the “corrupt” regime of former President Viktor Yanukovych, who was ousted in a US-backed color revolution in 2014. The expensive properties acquired by Zelensky associates in the center of London with the offshores, it seems, were but humble havens for persecuted Ukrainians.

It was true that Zelensky and his partners in a television production company, Kvartal 95, set up a network of offshore firms dating back to at least 2012. That was also the year the company began producing regular content for TV stations owned by Kolomoisky, Ukraine’s most flamboyant oligarch and Zelensky’s key backer...

Well it was said before that using sanctions against Russia will work to make them withdraw from Ukraine and Afghanistan was used as an example before, but it didn't work hardly, because fast foward from Afghanistan to today, Russia is still just as powerful it seems, to invade another country.

KOLONSCHYNA, Ukraine (AP) — As Russian tanks and trucks rumbled close to their village, a Ukrainian teenager and his father stealthily launched their small drone into the air.

Working as a team, they took bird’s-eye photos of the armored column moving toward Kyiv and pinpointed its coordinates, swiftly messaging the precious information to the Ukrainian military.

Within minutes, artillery batteries rained shells down on the invading forces, with deadly effect.

Andriy Pokrasa, 15, and his dad, Stanislav, are being hailed in Ukraine for their volunteer aerial reconnaissance work in the early days of the invasion, when Russian troops barreling in from the north made an ultimately failed attempt to take the capital and bring the country to its knees.

For a full week after the Feb. 24 invasion, the pair made repeated sorties with their drone — risking capture or worse had Russian troops been aware of their snooping.

“These were some of the scariest moments of my life,” Andriy recounted as he demonstrated his piloting skills for an Associated Press team of journalists.

“We provided the photos and the location to the armed forces,” he said. “They narrowed down the coordinates more accurately and transmitted them by walkie-talkie, so as to adjust the artillery.”

His father was ...

Timothy Snyder - a Yale professor in History, specializing in Central European genocides - comments on current Putin's plan.
The outlooks are really, really bad.
https://twitter.com/TimothyDSnyder/stat ... 4749218818

Quote:
Finally, and most horribly, a world famine is a necessary backdrop for a Russian propaganda campaign against Ukraine. Actual mass death is needed as the backdrop for a propaganda contest.
When the food riots begin, and as starvation spreads, Russian propaganda will blame Ukraine, and call for Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine to be recognized, and for all sanctions to be lifted.
Russia is planning to starve Asians and Africans in order to win its war in Europe. This is a new level of colonialism, and the latest chapter of hunger politics.
We (Poland) have infrastructure to help export maybe 1/5 of what needs to be exported. We'll do it but it's still way too little.

Yep, this. Civilians, especially, don't deserve this crap.

~Almost all national leaders are corrupt in some way or another, including our very own drama teacher, Justin Trudeau. He's been caught red handed giving friends massive $$$ contracts, inside dealings with defence contractors, mistreating Indigenous people in bad faith "negotiations," carrying on with similar dodgy global business dealings as his father set Canada on that screw citizens etc etc etc - he's no angel, either. I think I read something about him and a bunch of other higher ups also having their names pop up in the Pandora Papers as well.

They're all cut from the same cloth, really, so there are no surprises at all when someone finds some sort of self serving financial dealings associated with any head of state. Is Zelensky corrupt to some extent, too? Possibly/probably, but that doesn't justify what putin's done & continues to do.
