There's a difference between being Anti-American, and being against the President.

I get it. You have the joneses for Trump. But do you have to rub those of us who oppose the man faces in excrement?

Yeah, I know....Reported. BE MY GUEST!

I don't report you anymore. You aren't as offensive as you used to be. I'm done reporting people. I just ignore them now. You and I actually agreed on something in one of these threads - forgot exactly what it was though.

Was it because I'm not as liberal as you thought I was? Some of what Trump espouses I've been espousing for at least 45 years, namely, term limits on congress, anti-abortion and the defunding of Planned Parenthood, etc.

I've said it once, I'll say it again: I despise all politicians. Dad was a Borough Councilman when I was in junior high. He rubbed everyone the wrong way, including myself.

You may not be old enough to remember Watergate. I lived through that era, and saw firsthand the bullsh!t on both sides of the aisle in congress, as well as the bullish!t that went on in the Fourth and Fifth estates, as well as the contempt and utter filth that came out of the White House. When one's beliefs are betrayed that badly, one tends to be quite cynical.

Personally, I still think Trump is a horse's ass. That's MY problem. I also think Billery is still a turncoat, ever since she and her husband made the Democratic Party into a poor carbon copy of what used to be the Republican Party of that era. Again, that's MY problem. I'm not even going to discuss Bernie Sanders.

Like I said before, I'm a sour, dour Missouri Synod Lutheran that's also a sour, dour, Pennsylvania Dutchman, who's just tired of catching hell from everybody for being a Mr. Nice Guy, from what my psychologist tells me.

Why defund Planned Parenthood? None of the public funding it receives goes to abortions.

The real reason, I'm convinced, is that the right resents having poor women getting what they see as a free ride with medical matters, regardless of abortion.

You were born and raised in Washington State, right? LC-MS, depending on what district you're in, can be either tolerant, or they can run out of town on a rail. Northern Illinois District was quite intolerant, IIRC. I tried to set up a library in the congregation that baptized and confirmed me in 1988. I was always at odds with the library committee, because they thought I was too liberal with the materials I selected, even after I ran my selections past both pastors and they approved of most of my selections. The committee, on the other hand, was ready to run me off. I moved out of the area before that happened. I still can't get a good read on the Baltimore district, from what I can see of the 3 LC-MS congregations here in York City (St. John's--Mt. Rose, First St. John's--W. King St, and my home congregation, Good Shepherd. Pastor and his wife, like myself, are not lifelong lutherans. We're alumni of the same University (IUP). She's formerly United Methodist, I'm not sure of his religious upbringing, and I was brought up Church of God--General Conference (1 step above the Southern Baptists). I can still make the Sunday School class I attend go "what is this guy thinking?" Every now and then. Most of the congregation knows I'm on the spectrum, and they generally have no problem with that.

Besides, you live among the "plain folk" (Amish, Mennonite, and Dunkard) long enough, and you quickly find out that the old orders Amish and Mennonites are very hostile to anyone not Deutsch. The Old Order Amish, in particular, are extremely hostile to anyone and anybody they consider to be English (even if English is not your native language and if you're not Caucasian). They can be quite sour and dour in demeanor. You think aspies can't make friends? The old order Amish are a completely closed society! The Mennonites are a bit more open, but not by much.

Does that explain the Sour, Dour Lutheran comment?

Sure. Missouri Synod Lutherans here in the Pacific Northwest tend to be at odds at times with our Midwestern cousins.
I imagine the Mennonite/Amish tend to be dour folk. Just a point of interest: the Mennonites who are so often associated with the Pennsylvania Dutch today are mostly descended from Swiss Anabaptist/Mennonite refugees who had immigrated to the Palatinate to escape persecution after the Thirty Years War, though the term Pennsylvania Dutch designation had originally included a wider group of people, mostly speaking middle and high Franconian dialects from the Palatine-Kraichgau region of southwest Germany. Both groups had also immigrated to the Black Sea region of Russia during the Napoleonic era.

It was the abortion thing and defunding planned parenthood. I actually really liked you over on AC. I don't know exactly where things went wrong, but it was political in nature. I don't mind if people disagree with me, I just don't like any name calling. It's like with Mr. D., we get along just fine, but don't agree on everything. Sounds like the same thing between the two of us. If it wasn't for politics, we'd probably get along just fine.

It was, from the way I saw it, the way you were ripping people a new rear end when they didn't agree with your opinions.

I lived in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin from 1986-1991. One thing I learned while living there was be nice, be polite, and be respectful, even when you disagree. Yes, I had an explosive temper back then. It may take a lot to set me off, but watch out when I blow a gasket. I can still blow a gasket today, but you really got to push me to do so.

In addition, I worked for 5-1/2 years within Department of Defense as a contractor employee. I was sh!t on, like any other contractor, 95% of the time, by the civilian employees. I never had any problems with the uniformed soldiers and sailors, as they were too busy with their assigned duties. The one thing I learned from there, and considering I have relatives that were soldiers, was that, as officers, regardless whether your were enlisted or commissioned, you have to give respect in order to gain respect. To me, the way you were ripping people a new rear end who didn't agree with you, was disrespectful. Therefore, my lost respect comment. My nastiness with you from time to time, was a message to you about your behavior.

In short, and I think you finally figured it out, you don't have to be nasty to be a conservative. If you ever notice between me and Krainchgauer, we don't agree on everything, but we do agree to disagree, and leave it at that. Ditto with Auntblabby, Ass-P, Kraftiekortie, and a few others. Hell, I'd even do the same with Raptor, if he didn't act like a flaming horse's ass most of the time.

Anyhow, after this screed, let's just leave sleeping dog's lie. I have too many other mental, physical and financial problems to worry about, no thanks to some so-called friends, my brothers, and neighbors who consider me to be a jackass for helping a few guys living in a halfway house get to work at Church and Dwight's plant here in York on time. Those bastards won, by threatening to go to PennDOT to have my license permanently revoked for threatening to harm others and commit suicide, and going to the hospital to get help, no thanks to the insults they were hurling against me, as well as those guys for trying to straighten out their lives.

Yeah, by far his best speech

But can he take his own advice for more then a few hours?
Hope so, doubt it. If not the speech will be a footnote.

It's pretty funny reading the reactions to the speech on various sites, FOX is rapturous, CNN is impressed, and Slate is acting as if it was the worst speech ever given, a pretty good example of a political Rorschach test.

Oh yeah! The Demos are tearing Trump apart.

I say screw them and go around them. That's the only way Trump will get things done.

What a doofus (the Demo governor that was replaced by a Republican - I think he sounded pissed off - a man scorned)

"It was, from the way I saw it, the way you were ripping people a new rear end when they didn't agree with your opinions."

I was trying to be nice, but you just ended up making me mad.

What made me mad with you was that you right out of the blue started calling me a bunch of crap names and even brought up something to the affect of "now I know why you were banned from AC" . You were extremely rude. The "TRUTH" thread is still in print so you can read it - it's all there. Anyone else I got pissed off at was usually because they were coming at me with slurs of Hitler, nazi, bigot, and even using my job against me as being a bad nurse. They have no idea how hard I work. Anyone who is rude to me is going to get it right back. Then you went back to AC and started badmouthing me when I couldn't even stand up for myself. Thank God someone did stand up for me, I still do have friends over there. That's how I remember it.

Forget I even said anything.
