I don't know what the statistics are on this. It
is true that we go pretty easy on white-collar offences relative to the harm done. Also, IIRC, we do jail a lot more men than women in the US. (I think they're about 70% of the prison population, but I have to look.)
There are also quirks in the law. A local auto-sales mogul got busted for fraud, and he's been subject to claw-back motions. His wife still gets alimony. Since the only money that he has is rightfully the property of his victims, she's really receiving alimony from them, not him. And she already lived lavishly at their expense for years.
