Kilroy, your personal salvation is up to you. Every man follows his own path.

Homosexuality? Doesn't matter to me, but I still think "gay pride" parades are the dumbest thing ever. I mean, what is there to be proud of there? Whether you're gay, straight, or bi, what about sexual orientation makes you "proud" to be it? Imagine if there was a straight pride parade....wouldn't you think that was utterly absurd?

I wouldn't reproduce even if I wasn't gay. There's too many humans on the planet, and I have too many genetic problems. It's a bit irresponsible to reproduce when there are so many orphans I could raise instead. Although, I'd be a terrible mother, I hate children.

Think of it more as a "We refuse to be ashamed because we are gay" parade. Makes more sense that way.

I don't get the 'proud to be an American' stickers, though, either. Proud? Of what? Being lucky enough to have been born in the 'right' country?

That's how I think of Pride Parades. It's also nice to gather with other gays and be able to talk about homosexual issues, like getting rights, bigotry, and just talking. It's nice to find a group of people you share something in common with.

I don't really know about pride. I am 'proud' of my heritage, but that's not really the right word. I guess, I just like learning about history, and I feel kind of nifty about my kinship with the past. Not proud like I am of being valedictorian, or of doing well in band or some other achievement, just sort of, happy and interested to be connected to the past.

Gay prides are in honor of those whom marched in the stonewall riots, the defied an entire country. So every year around the end of June we hold pride parades to show that we are not ashamed of who we are, that we respect those who put their lives on the line on 28 June 1969. While the political nature of the parades have diminished because of acceptance their are still parts of them that are very much about the rights we wish to have.

How could anyone not see the honour and valour in these so-called stonewall riots? This is no different from MLK and his crowd marching for their cause, fighting oppression with nothing but their character. Now that stonewall urgency has died off, I wonder if today's Pride events are little more than block parties ...

My favorite teacher showed this clip in speech class before. It's from a tv show, but it gets the point across to people who try to use their religion to spread hate:

That's a very good monologue by Martin Sheen. Whoever wrote that is pretty slick. 8)

That's the crux of the whole argument. We know we were born this way, but these religious bigots refuse to accept this; they think it was a choice we made, so they blame us. There is no point in trying to change their minds, they don't want to be confused by the facts. It's not just homosexuality, it's creationism, birth control, etc. It is not possible to argue with people who believe the Bible is the literal word of God.

yeah...your right, I hold no real respect for those people
I don't care what "God" says
I have a religion (somewhat) that accepts me, you know
and doesn't demand I change or apologize for everything I do

There are some however, that don't believe to be a choice, and actually accept some are born that way, nevertheless, they still think of it as sinful and that that they have to change, it would practically the same in a way, although at least, accepting that some are born this way, it's something, but not sure how many share this though.
