I couldn't care less about pearls, but I love pigs.

In fact, I'm gonna roast me some this afternoon!

I disagree. It has no pleasing shape or proportions, so it gives my geometric intuition nothing to chew on. It has nothing good to offer my nose, and nothing to offer my ears. It's too complicated to be elegant, but still not overwhelming enough to be sublime. And it is too specific to be appreciated for itself as life.

Someday one of your heart valves may be replaced by the flesh of a swine. In addition to which swine and humans share over 85 percent of their genes.

Not likely. Xenografting has been tried and the results are quite disappointing. Now humans DO share 85% of their genetic blueprint with Chimpanzee's, but Ive NEVER heard such a claim about pigs.

This article indicates that chimpanzees and humans have 96% of their DNA in common. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... genes.html. Other studies indicate it may be a percentage point or so lower.

There have been some experiments mixing human and pig DNA into clones with the possibility of growing transplantable organs for humans but there is some danger of pig viruses infecting humans so the experiments are looked at with some doubts.

Honestly this thread is nonsense, religion is entirely opinion, not fact or knowledge, funny thing, science means knowledge, knowledge, in the right mindset means understanding, therefore, to truly be religious you must lack all knowledge, and by extension all science and understanding :P

Also to delve into the pig part, technically you are related with every organism on this world, we are all connected by genetics, you share a common ancestry after all, so I see even the smallest spider or largest whale as my cousin, its a nice way to view the world, so I treat animals just as well, if not better, than humans, for they are far kinder and do not try to convert me to any one belief system

Well of course we can't communicate on the same level, they are based solely around survival while we humans more went along the teleological method of genetic evolution, but my little snakey who lives in my house is a lovely little guy, and besides, he is far more amazing and beautiful than many other things :P

Irrelevant. You pet snake and his ilk came about over many, many years (millions, billions) by way of variation and natural selection based on reproductive fitness. For the first two billion or so years life on this planet consisted of single cell organisms.

Umm you kind of just responded very oddly, I was talking to phil777, not adding to the discussion, you might have missed the page before this one :P

So to add to that, i'm an atheist and love all sciences, of course I realise that he evolved over hundreds of millions of years, as did humans and their forerunners (Homo Erectus etc.)
