It would be instructive if I lived in Russia.
Then we would know better what we are talking about.
Sure we are manipulated by the media and all that----but we don't have to pay bribes to get basic bureaucratic stuff done---like get our own birth certificate.
Facts are facts and what you are saying are lies, Russia is undoubted materially better off under Putin in the last 18 years so perhaps you should reevaluate who is teaching you these untruths as it is clearly with an agenda. There is even an easy infographic that was made a few years ago to illustrate the absurdity of what you just said.

Mind you they have been attacked in recent years with sanctions as well which have only strengthened the resolve of the Russian people in their support of Putin. Given who we are friends with and our own actions, to put ourselves on a moral pedestal above so far above Russia that we can't even talk to let alone work with them is so totally ridiculous that anyone literate about history and the current state of the world should know better.
How has all this affected the lot of the average Russian?
Now....that would be even more relevant.

If Trump turns out to be a great leader, and implements successfully all which he proposes, while maintaining the accountability of leaders at the same relatively high level as previously, I'd be glad I am wrong.
I wouldn't eat my hat or my shoe---but I would bow down---not to the man--but to his accomplishments.

Someone who expects us to have forgotten their financial crisis, which started in August 98.

More like let's find a good solution for the kids here first before creating more.
That's another good spin.
You just can't force morality on people.I can understand why people don't believe in abortion.I don't like it being used for birth control,I would prefer it was only done becuse it had to be.Like if a pregnancy would endanger the life of the women, rape or incest.I'd be all for encouraging women to put up the babies up for adoption.
The problem would be with the addicts,it's hard to keep someone clean for nine months of they don't want to be.People want to adopt healthy babies, the one born with problems from drug/alcohol use will most likely wind up in the system.
You can't stop women from having an abortion, they had them before it was legal.Rich women will just go on an abortion vacation, get a tan,get rid of fetus.
You will just force it underground and criminals will profit and they won't really care about how clean the facilities are or if a woman has complications. If she died, they'd just dump her in the river.
Making something illegal just won't stop a determined person from getting what they want.
If I wanted an automatic weapon,or illegal drugs I could find them easy enough. This county is dry,but I can get a case of beer and moonshine a few minutes from here. Its illegal, but all easily available.Apple Pie moonshine is the bomb!!
If I wanted to give myself an abortion it wouldn't be that hard.I know exactly what herbs to use.
It's also hard to get irresponsible people to be responsible, with all the birth control out there an unwanted pregnancy should be rare.Women that can't figure out why they keep getting preggers would probably forget the baby was in the bathtub till it's too late.

This is like saying if you really cared about refugees you would share your home with them. Or adopt/sponsor a refuge kid for life. So unless you do something extremely proactive about it, you don't have the right to feel passionately about it. Put your money where your mouth is et al.
Nope not the same.
The same prolifers are mostly against welfare, plenty here b***h about it so don't say they care. They don't mind telling someone what to do with their body, but they damm sure don't like it when someone signs up for food stamps.
I'm for refugees being allowed here.Bet most prolifers are not.If I had the funds it's very possible I would sponsor a refugee family.I doubt we could all live on my SSI check. So the best I can do is to send letters to my representatives and sign petitions.I do what I can.Have you been to a prolife rally yet?I can respect those that do,they have a right to stand and up for their beleif.Do you do more than post here?Write your representative, call the White House?Put your money where your mouth is.
1) Re: food stamps ... I'm part of a group that helps support a local food pantry. As well, I believe food stamps are fine for those who truly need them.
2) Refugees ... I visited a Laotian refugee family way back when I was a kid, because even then I wanted to reach out. As for modern-day refugees, it's a matter of how it's handled ... keeping the right balance between welcoming those truly in need while at the same time protecting our borders.
3) As for adopting, well, as an Aspie, I do what I can ... My sister and her husband have adopted two children from Latin America who otherwise would have been abandoned, and I'm the godmother of one of them, and very close to the other one as well.

4) Prolife rally? Why yes ... many times, including traveling from various states to Washington, DC for the annual March for Life. In 2010, I brought my camera along with me ... below is one of the photos I took while I was there:
![Image](https://1.bp.blogspot.com/_LjwC-AwaHZE/S2ZFStmWYBI/AAAAAAAAAT0/9CyS3VIHHNk/s400/Ohio+RTL_2.jpg)
5) Write my representative? Well, last year I wrote two letters and sent them to Texas on behalf of David Daleiden. He's the one who did the undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood's involvement in selling baby body parts.
6) Called the White House? Well, I've called my Congressman in the past. Not the President, yet ... but you know, that's a good idea. Call President Trump. Vice President Pence would be good to call, too. Thank you.
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
...
Question: Should I do even more?
Answer: Yes.
I can respect all that. You don't just talk the talk, you walk it.
My brother and sister in law are very prolife ( or she was before she passed away) and they did so much for some of the poorer kids in the neighborhood.Took them out to eat,shopping,etc..While I didn't share the same relgious beliefs,I totally respected the ones they held, becuse they lived them. They beleived in attending the local church, becuse that's the right thing,to worship with your neighbor's.It didn't matter to them at all that they were the only white people in the church. They became active members of the congregation.
What an awesome story, Misslizard ... we need more people in the world like your brother and sister in law!

(Am sorry to hear of her passing.)
![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
Thank you,she was a really sweet lady.We lost her to brain cancer.

Putin is a despotic thug.
It depends on how you define a “despot,” and There is a wide range of views about Putin in both the US and among the member states of the UN. These views range from very negative to very positive.
But democrats do seem to have quite a preoccupation with seeing monsters and boogeymen.
A leader who arrests people in the media for opposing/criticizing them is a despotic goon.
If given a choice, like we're given a choice, do you believe Putin would keep on getting re-elected?
Just because someone wins an election doesn't mean they can't be authoritarian goons. Sometimes the majority of the population just happens to want an elected dictator. It's something that happens over and over again all over the world. Hell, Hitlar won elections.
It would be instructive if I lived in Russia.
Then we would know better what we are talking about.
Sure we are manipulated by the media and all that----but we don't have to pay bribes to get basic bureaucratic stuff done---like get our own birth certificate.
Doesn't Ban-Dodger live in Russia? He seems to like Putin.
This doesn't excuse the genocide, though.
Of course, Putin is no Hitler...but how much sacrifice must the Russian people make in exchange for this?
Oh lordie. Haven't there been enough Hitler comparisons already?
If given a choice, like we're given a choice, do you believe Putin would keep on getting re-elected?
Wrong. You do not know how bad things were under Boris Yeltsin, to say Russians haven't materially benefited at all during Putin's time in office is talking out your ass. Putin has the broad support of the vast majority of the Russian people, what do you know of the Russian opposition to say he wouldn't be re-elected? I doubt very much. Putin is a nationalist and who restored honor to Russia after a decade of humiliation, just because you don't like or I should say the people who crafted your opinion don't like a leader does not change reality. It's so stupid when you actually back up and take stock of who the US is actually friends with, Russia is not our enemy! America and the West in general is far less free than it realizes, there is a deep state in this country that controls the media which has long been able to manipulate public opinion until very recently and our freedom only goes as far as it aligns with their interests.
Where is your evidence that there is a "deep state" controlling the media. Why can't you just accept that there are a lot of people who legitimately dislike Trump? I'm not arguing the media isn't biased. Sure it is. It probably just so happens that most people in the media business are not fond of Trump, and so that's how the slant comes out. Why must you insist that everyone who disagrees with you is a puppet with some shadowy figure's hand up their ass? That kind of argument makes you look deranged and frankly scary. Especially when you're so fond of calling people traitors, people who should be arrested, etc... Do you even know who you sound like?
I was making that comparison because this is precisely what happened:
People became much more prosperous under Hitler.
My point.....if moral degeneracy accompanies prosperity, then it cancels out the prosperity--and more.
Just because a person makes a nation prosperous--doesn't mean that the person is necessarily worth beans.
I wasn't equating Putin to Hitler. He doesn't believe, as far as I know, in putting races of people in gas chambers. He's just a run-of-the mill autocrat.

Sure, Putin wants to rebuild Russia after years of humiliation. But he wants to do it at America's expense, as he blames America for the fall of the Soviet Empire, and the decline of Russian power. If it could be proven to you that Putin had it out for America, would you be so gung-ho for him?
