If given a choice, like we're given a choice, do you believe Putin would keep on getting re-elected?
Wrong. You do not know how bad things were under Boris Yeltsin, to say Russians haven't materially benefited at all during Putin's time in office is talking out your ass. Putin has the broad support of the vast majority of the Russian people, what do you know of the Russian opposition to say he wouldn't be re-elected? I doubt very much. Putin is a nationalist and who restored honor to Russia after a decade of humiliation, just because you don't like or I should say the people who crafted your opinion don't like a leader does not change reality. It's so stupid when you actually back up and take stock of who the US is actually friends with, Russia is not our enemy! America and the West in general is far less free than it realizes, there is a deep state in this country that controls the media which has long been able to manipulate public opinion until very recently and our freedom only goes as far as it aligns with their interests.
Where is your evidence that there is a "deep state" controlling the media. Why can't you just accept that there are a lot of people who legitimately dislike Trump? I'm not arguing the media isn't biased. Sure it is. It probably just so happens that most people in the media business are not fond of Trump, and so that's how the slant comes out. Why must you insist that everyone who disagrees with you is a puppet with some shadowy figure's hand up their ass? That kind of argument makes you look deranged and frankly scary. Especially when you're so fond of calling people traitors, people who should be arrested, etc... Do you even know who you sound like?
Wikileaks literally confirms it. Yes there are lots of well intentioned useful idiots who might join in the Trump hate that might not know any better but there 100% exists a deep state which wields the tremendous influence over our media, military, and intelligence that is driving this attack and I can almost name the people one by one since it's not that big of a mystery. They are breaking the law targeting Trump's administration, they are opposing the peaceful transfer of power and are refusing to accept the results of our democratic elections.
When your enemy is waging total war against you then there really is no other option but to fight back and squash them, they have forgone all attempts at middle ground or compromise so what is it that they want? There is no question in my head that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are criminals which is part of the reason why they are fighting so hard against losing control, they live on the good graces of whoever is in charge and Washington has always been that way so now that graces aren't so good and it's time this swamp gets drained. I am content to let sleeping dogs lie but one that has bit many people and continuously tries to attack you should be put down. Corruption in our government needs to be weeded out and its almost all encompassing in the Democratic Party.
Now this is just creepy.

Sure, Putin wants to rebuild Russia after years of humiliation. But he wants to do it at America's expense, as he blames America for the fall of the Soviet Empire, and the decline of Russian power. If it could be proven to you that Putin had it out for America, would you be so gung-ho for him?
Sure prove it, I think have a good understanding of the history of international relations and that's not my understanding of it. In fact, I believe Putin would be very eager to extend the olive branch if the US/allies were willing to respect their sovereignty & security interests. The US has been playing a game with Russia trying squeeze them out of their former zone of influence(allowing western business interests to take over) and to expand the antiquated anti-Russian NATO alliance to their door step with the promotion of ethnic separatism. This has been going on for 20 going on 30 years now, it doesn't serve the people of America/Russia/the EU/or even the former Soviet bloc. Russia supporting Trump because they want better relations and relief from sanctions is not insidious or corrupt in anyway, as I said many times one of the primary reasons I decided to support Trump so whole heartedly is because of his commitment to bettering relations with Russia which is 100% necessary for their ever to be progress in this War on Terror. Long term Russia could pose as a strategic hedge against a more aggressive China, I think people would be surprised how a simple realignment in foreign policy could go in fixing this mess that the US is primarily responsible for creating.

Looking at the source, The Dailymail, it's obvious it's the product of a deranged, partisan mind.
Other stories covered included Devil worshipping illegal immigrant gang members, while another talks about a man possessed by demons. Not what I'd consider a worthy source on information.

If you want to imagine Putin to be a good hearted, altruistic man who wants the best not only for his country, but also for ours, then there's nothing I can do about that.
The fact is, though, CNN has just discovered that the Russian pre-election contacts with the Trump campaign extended to his son-in-law, on top of the recent revelation of Russian contacts with that KKK apologist, Jeff Sessions. The Russian ambassador in question who they had met with is in fact an intelligence agent who specializes in recruiting agents. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

If you think Trump is insane or a calculating authoritarian this is your worst nightmare coming true. The Obama team has for almost two years has made mistake after mistake because of their hubris in dealing with Trump.

It's probably better just to investigate these posts for a few seconds, then dismiss them.
However, Obama does seem to intend to speak out. Other former presidents, on both sides, have also spoken out. They really didn't speak out much before now, which suggests that they view Trump as abnormal.
I'm hoping the Obama team has learned from their mistakes. I look forward to hearing what they have to say.
The complete BS about huge numbers of people remaining in their jobs in order to sabotage the new administration sounds like nonsense, in that very few people tend to behave that way. I hope that none did, since if even one seems to have done so, that will suffice as proof of a massive conspiracy to more than a few people (here and elsewhere).

If one is Soviet in thought, one desires the destruction of America, and of all entities which are not Communist. Putin is an ex-KGB agent,he was a high-level agent, in fact.
Still, even if Sessions and others talked to the Russians, I wouldn't go as far as to charge them with treason, though.
To charge the loyal opposition for treason merely for opposing reeks of something along the lines of Henry VIII's notions pertaining to non-adherents to the Church of England--all because the Pope didn't want him to divorce Katherine of Aragon.
Putin is not a communist, and while there has always been a small movement in Russia to revive the USSR, it's mainly older people who "paid in to" the soviet system, and were disenfranchised when it collapsed. Putin does have an inferiority complex, however, and in his mind, I think he still thinks that Russia has to prove itself better than the U.S.
For that reason, I think Trump would be very naive if he trusted him....but if he wants to increase the U.S. nuclear arsenal, then maybe he doesn't.
Personally I don't want to see another nuclear arms race, and I think the move to increase the nuclear arsenal is a dangerous one, however I do support his desire to strengthen the military, but I'm not sure more funding is the way to go, because we spend significantly on military funding already, and despite that, we haven't been very successful in our military campaigns.
Lockheed Martin is one of many defense contractors. Each of those major defense contractors have suppliers who also have suppliers, who have suppliers, etc. All of them individually employ a hell of a lot of people who feed and house their children with those incomes.
But I guess if it's not government handouts it doesn't count, eh?
![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)
that IS a government handout and most of it goes to rich investors. just another example of upward redistribution of wealth, not something i'm happy to do with my tax dollars.
And there lies one of the biggest differences between liberal and conservatives.

Well, don't look now, but here's a big ole picture of Russian Ambassador Kislyak chatting it up with the Democrats right before President Trump's Congressional Speech. Yes, he attended, and in fact, the Ambassador ended up sitting with the Democrats during the speech. They seem pretty cozy to me ...

You make a very good point about the increase in military spending. I thought we would not get into big wars with Trump as president, but Hillary was certain to get us into one.
Regarding rebuilding the USSR, I think it's more about Russians feeling shocked that they don't have the power they used to have over lesser people. It's about the strongman, not the ideology. In that regard, they resemble some Trump voters.

I don't like it when the Democrats kowtow to the Russians, either.
Just because I'm not thrilled with Trump----doesn't mean I'm a Democrat, either
I'm not even a registered Democrat.
I wouldn't have minded if McCain were elected President--or Colin Powell for that matter.
But Mitt Romney...he was like Ted Baxter.

Surely you don't want to have a tit for tat discussion on how the US doesn't respect the sovereignty of other countries and I will add that I very much doubt that you have any idea of what brought up the situation in Crimea and the Ukraine.
