very true. The west, particularly the US have used the jewish people as a battering ram to put a massive crack down the center of the middle east.

I don't see the problem with Israel having nukes. They have some powerful enemies like Iran.

Who don't have nukes. They only want them as a defence against Israel's nukes. All other concerns are secondary.

Except in the 40s, we really weren't nearly as close to Israel as we are today. France and England were supplying most of their arms, loans (in one of the striking ironies of the '48 war, the Israelis wound up flying Nazi fighters against the Arabs).

We had our ups and downs until the '67 war; and even then they did their best to try to sink one of our ships (it was a bad year for intelligence ships; Israel bombed one, and North Korea seized another).

I saw a little bias in the article (but where could you find an unbiased view of the Middle East?...;)

So....a safe haven for Jews would be entirely encircled by Muslim neighbors who were just recently all recruited to help out the Nazis and were previously with the Ottoman empire?

Makes no difference if they were surrounded by Muslims, there have been sizable Jewish populations in most Muslim countries for hundreds of years, although hundreds of thousands were kicked out after Israel declared independence.

Sizable? In the regions around Israel? Define sizable, please. Is this sizable relative to the population like how the local Orthodox Jews who co-habitated in Palestine with Muslims or do you mean post-industrial revolution city size populations?

Actually the Israelis make Jews look good. The world no longer thinks of Jews as wussie nebishes anymore. Jews are now regarded as muscular (about time!). The world has learned a strong lesson: don't f*ck with the Jews!

Hopefully the label sticks to the Israelis, not the Jews who have a long history of religious tolerance and deep learning and great sensitivity.

Oh yea, i should've made that distinction earlier, brain slowly goes mushy when past midnight =/ I honestly have no problem with most confessions of Jews, only those that are Zionist or pro-Israel attract my ire.
