I personally think that if there really is a God in the Christian sense, then he has a split personality, and his other personality is Satan.

Good and evil will always be a duality. They are two sides of the same coin. The concept of good is meaningless without a concept of evil. "Destroying evil" basically is the equivalent of "destroying good". What is evil is good in different circumstances, and vice versa. It is black and white thinking, when reality is shades of grey.

I think the Eastern belief systems have a more accurate and realistic depiction of what life's all about. If I wanted to follow a belief system, it'd be one of those rather than an Abrahamic religion.

There are some who revel
In worshiping the devil
While others and their mothers worship God.
There's this thing with pentagrams
Which send out telegrams
To demons. A technology most odd.
But praying for salvation
Or horse race expectation
Seems a cockeyed way to deal with deities.
Begging or ass kissing
Seems to leave most basics missing.
A rather dumb performance of one's pieties.
It would probably be finer
In New York or Asia Minor
To neglect respect for official phonys
And look up former races
For winnings and disgraces
And pay attention to the speeds of ponies.

I don't know whose idea's was this to put the religion talk with the politics and philosophy sections of the forums, but i think it was doomed to fail when most of us that visit this part of the forum are (most likely) atheists that keep on bashing on the theists for personal reasons... =/

Believing in Hell is a choice. If you didn't on some level approve of people going there (and this must be true however much you protest that you're just trying to save people, because the Bible says some people will go there), you presumably wouldn't be a Christian of that particular persuasion.

You can tell a lot about someone from the choices they make...

I hate preachers!! I don't preach about how people MUST go vegetarian. Who knows what hell looks like? On the same note, who knows what heaven looks like?

Wow, this thread is actually of a serious nature. I believe that growing up and being taught christianity it has royally f****d up my mind and I don't know what to say about this topic any more.
