Believing in Hell is a choice. If you didn't on some level approve of people going there (and this must be true however much you protest that you're just trying to save people, because the Bible says some people will go there), you presumably wouldn't be a Christian of that particular persuasion.
You can tell a lot about someone from the choices they make...
I believe that the BTK killer murdered people in horrific ways, not because I like the idea, but because it appears to be true.
Just because someone believes in the existence of hell doesn't mean they are comfortable with the idea.
