I just think watching the ground break apart like that in the trailer is absurd. There isn't a physical force in the world right now that can do that in any possible way. Even if every super volcano on the planet erupted. I doubt it would do such a thing. Water moving around is very likely though and possible as magnetic poles shift. In such events.

I thought that as well. But if you throw reality out the window it seems so mesmerizing seeing a giant catastrophe like that. Ive been through a category 3 hurricane and i find anything like that so cool!

Mayan prophecy is most likely to occur if anything. Even so many people take words out of context. Even Mayans have it stated that another peaceful Atun will begin after one ending in 2012. Words of the Mayans could simply mean an end to the old way of thinking. Much like many things in the Bible are exaggerated a bit.

I did not know the Mayans believed that a peaceful world would exist after 2012. I thought they believed the world end. I guess I learned something new today.

Could you tell me more about that or post a link so i can read about it, thanks!

It is all B.S. I wonder how this movie will do on T.V. in the year 2013?

Not much different from the likeliness that the US won't have a black president named Wilson in 2012.

The world will not end on 12-21-2012, at least not according to the Maya, who knew about as much about our planet's future demise as Gordon-Michael Scallion, St. Malachy, Edgar Cayce, Zecharia Sitchin,or Nostradamus, namely, nothing. The Maya had zero, zilch, nada, mix bá'al to say about the hoax planet Nibiru or the end of the world.

... One of the important discoveries from these ruins is that the Maya had several calendars. One is known as the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days...

Hey - doesn't that sinister resetting just reek of Y2K paranoia?

people love to be paranoid, there is a whole subset of folks that go to horror films to have the **** scared out of them, and some people like to think the boogeyman is going to grab their leg from under the bed. It doesn't help to have various religions predicting some horrible catastrophe. I remember when they realized that the Mayan hieroglyphics were cyclic and that they had a whole new set planned for 1,872,000 days after 2012.

but then that wouldn't be as much fun for the paranoid, now would it?

I like the idea of a cleansing of the earth, where only the good people will survive. This is basically what the Hopi believe , in a nut shell.

This is a 5 part video explaining there views.

I still hold firm to the belief that nothing will happen on that day.

The Mayans themselves are starting to get annoyed by all the talk.
