Wipe-out topic

When I was a kid I used to wonder if Satan was actually God having a meltdown (alter ego, Jekyll Hyde thing). A two in one deal. If this is the case, though, who is the devil's advocate? And is God the insane one? How rhetorical are these questions?

On a lighter(?) note, if everyone just upped and died the smell of rotting flesh would be unbearable for a time (God just might have a sense of smell, who knows?), until the carrion eaters took over. Unless Averick is going to morph into a vulture, he is out of luck with the take-out. :P

in the process of figuring out how to upload my consciousness into cyberspace >_>

but really, the whole question follows the fact that IF god exists. My questions to follow would be.

1)what if god doesn't exist?
2)which god?
3)How many gods?

so yeah, the question is obviously referring to those who believe in a monotheistic religion. Well, here is an answer from someone who doesnt care if a god/pantheon of gods exists or not.

Nature would take back over the world, as It RIGHTFULLY should. just think of the show life after humans. Chaos runs the universe as well, so it is best to remember that.

It's more like 100 billion ly diameter (which is a lot more volume), but yeah, very big indeed. The only important thing to remember is that it's not (14 billion years * 2)ly 8)

If we truly have free will, then its possible, as a species, to thwart gods will and wipe out our own existence, either in advance of his plans or at odds with them.

What say you, true believer?

It could contradict free will, but lets go with the main "if then" statement.

If mankind wiped itself out, [then] God [will] shut down the universe.

Scripturally, in both Isaiah and Revelation, it talks of God creating a new universe. Prior to this, is the last battle where,

"When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them."

Here, in the last battle, it is not mankind that wipes itself out, but God.

So,

1) If mankind wiped itself out, [then] God [will] shut down the universe.
2) Mankind will not wipe itself out.
-> God will not shut down the universe due to mankind destroying itself.

Oh, as for the passages concerning the creation of the new universe,

"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them. Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD." Isaiah 65:17-25

&

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:1-4

I care about the possibility of preventing human wipeout. Once it happens I couldn't care less about what happens next.
