No - people don't all see things through the same eyes.
Sort of like saying,
shouldn't there only be one unified country?
if any religion were true wouldn't there only be one unified religion?
if it really was true there is no God, wouldn't there be no religions?
And on top of that people with agendas get in and muddy up the truth.
A lot of denominations were started when someone decided the existing one was muddying up the truth.
Plus, witness all the conflicting "truth" about things in science and medicine.
Especially the global warming thing - either it is or it is not - only one of those can happen at a time - yet there's an intense argument about which it is - and we're all taking measurements of the same planet.
I keep getting him confused with Benny Hill.

What are a couple you see?
I say that not as any kind of "Expert" who can "Prove" anything.
There are a couple things which are often seen as contradictions but aren't.
And there are a couple things which still kind of look that way.
The books are to say what the reason he came is and that he came, but beyond that, it definitely is best to go directly to him and not depend on man.
That old thing of cut out the middlemen and go directly to the source.

However, what different people are telling you the truth is, well, that does indeed get kind of bumpy.
Thing to do - and this is going to seem, oh, what's the right word . . . umm, a bit metaphysical?
Thing to do is, ask God, directly to him, to show what the real truth about him is in an easily understandable manner and to give you time to take it in.
And then you need to make room to allow for him to do that.
Be honest and not sarcastic - sarcastic can get you rather inconvenient results: don't ask me how I know that, don't want to have to remember. Oops, just did.
Can't begin to say anything about what may the means or the timetable, I'd just be making stuff up if I did.
Hehe, it happens.
Enjoy the holidays.

I know absolutely zero about this guy other than this page, haven't looked for more and probably not going to.
On it he makes perfect sense to me.
http://www.kinnon.tv/2007/03/the_people_form.html
The People formerly known as The Congregation
Jay Rosen created the meme of The People Formerly Known as the Audience - those of us who are no longer content to be content consumers - but have become content creators ourselves.
The people formerly known as the audience wish to inform media people of our existence, and of a shift in power that goes with the platform shift you’ve all heard about.
Think of passengers on your ship who got a boat of their own. The writing readers. The viewers who picked up a camera. The formerly atomized listeners who with modest effort can connect with each other and gain the means to speak— to the world, as it were.
Now we understand that met with ringing statements like these many media people want to cry out in the name of reason herself: If all would speak who shall be left to listen? Can you at least tell us that?
The people formerly known as the audience do not believe this problem—too many speakers!—is our problem. Now for anyone in your circle still wondering who we are, a formal definition might go like this:
The people formerly known as the audience are those who were on the receiving end of a media system that ran one way, in a broadcasting pattern, with high entry fees and a few firms competing to speak very loudly while the rest of the population listened in isolation from one another— and who today are not in a situation like that at all.
Let me introduce you to The People formerly known as The Congregation. There are millions of us.
We are people - flesh and blood - image bearers of the Creator - eikons, if you will. We are not numbers.
We are the eikons who once sat in the uncomfortable pews or plush theatre seating of your preaching venues. We sat passively while you proof-texted your way through 3, 4, 5 or no point sermons - attempting to tell us how you and your reading of The Bible had a plan for our lives. Perhaps God does have a plan for us - it just doesn't seem to jive with yours.
Money was a great concern. And, for a moment, we believed you when you told us God would reward us for our tithes - or curse us if we didn't. The Law is just so much easier to preach than Grace. My goodness, if you told us that the 1st century church held everything in common - you might be accused of being a socialist - and of course, capitalism is a direct gift from God. Please further note: Malachi 3 is speaking to the priests of Israel. They weren't the cheerful givers God speaks of loving.
We grew weary from your Edifice Complex pathologies - building projects more important than the people in your neighbourhood...or in your pews. It wasn't God telling you to "enlarge the place of your tent" - it was your ego. And, by the way, a multi-million dollar, state of the art building is hardly a tent.
We no longer buy your call to be "fastest growing" church in wherever. That is your need. You want a bigger audience. We won't be part of one.
Our ears are still ringing from the volume, but...Jesus is not our boyfriend - and we will no longer sing your silly love songs that suggest He is. Happy clappy tunes bear no witness to the reality of the world we live in, the powers and principalities we confront, or are worthy of the one we proclaim King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
You offered us a myriad of programs to join - volunteer positions to assuage our desire to be connected. We could be greeters, parking lot attendants, coffee baristas, book store helpers, children's ministry workers, media ministry drones - whatever you needed to fulfill your dreams of corporate glory. Perhaps you've noticed, we aren't there anymore.
We are The People formerly known as The Congregation. We have not stopped loving the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Nor do we avoid "the assembling of the saints." We just don't assemble under your supposed leadership. We meet in coffee shops, around dinner tables, in the parks and on the streets. We connect virtually across space and time - engaged in generative conversations - teaching and being taught.
We live amongst our neighbours, in their homes and they in ours. We laugh and cry and really live - without the need to have you teach us how - by reading your ridiculous books or listening to your supercilious CDs or podcasts.
We don't deny Paul's description of APEPT leadership - Ephesians 4:11. We just see it in the light of Jesus' teaching in Mark 10 and Matthew 20 - servant leadership. We truly long for the release of servant leading men and women into our gifts as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. We believe in Peter's words that describe us all as priests. Not just some, not just one gender.
We are The People formerly known as The Congregation. We do not hate you. Though some of us bear the wounds you have inflicted. Many of you are our brothers and our sisters, misguided by the systems you inhabit, intoxicated by the power - yet still members of our family. (Though some are truly wolves in sheep's clothing.)
And, as The People formerly known as The Congregation, we invite you to join us on this great adventure. To boldly go where the Spirit leads us. To marvel at what the Father is doing in the communities where He has placed us. To live the love that Jesus shows us.
Addendum: This is a polemic. The first-person plural pronoun, "We", is not used as Pluralis Majestatis (the Royal We) but rather is based on the post-charismatic/post-evangelical conversations that are occurring in the blogosphere. I have no more right to speak in this voice than any other person living in the liminal reality of the church in 21st century.
Please note also that I have many good friends who lead within a more traditional church context for whom I have great love, as well as deep respect. They are doing their very best to be missional within their worlds.

Does happen - do know that kind
That "...they do nothing else than smile all the time." is going to be a discredit to them in the end: Jesus, God, said to go, to do, to tell about him, to help the needy, to support the grieving, to love people who are a bit inconvenient to love.
In other words, get you lazy butt out of your comfy little cocoon of be-ing and do!
And the best way to do that is to meet and interact with people where they are at - one by one by one by one by one . . .
A lot of interesting discussion from people including a number who indeed go and do takes place here http://asbojesus.wordpress.com/ Might be worth going to and taking part.
Some supposedly Christian people who are 'doing' who are very wrong in what they are doing are the ones from that Westboro Baptist church who go around staging protests proclaiming "God Hates Gays" - that really pushes my rage and rant button.
Total and absolute BS of the foulest and rankest kind.
No He Does Not
He does imply that the lifestyle isn't the healthiest choice, but He Does Not Hate People Who Are Gay. Or Bisexual. Or Heterosexual. Or Asexual.
Dammit, he sent Jesus to save souls from sin so that direct personal relationship with God might be re-established among humanity if they accept Jesus Christ (their choice to or not to, he does give people respect for their own desire) - and said outright that he did that so that no one should eternally perish.
Excuse me, but last time I looked in a dictionary 'no one' includes everyone, right.
And there's this phrase "he so loved the world that he sent . . . " - correct me if I'm wrong but "the world" means "the world", not 'some of the world except this part', right?
They oughtta read their religion's own Bible and go out and live among everyone and love and reach them where they are at - one by one by one by one by one . . .
Boy, what's got me on this roll, I ain't no preacher
Actually, it ain't supposed to be just the preacher, it's supposed to be just plain people doing the work.
The smart, the dumb, the able, the disabled, the white, the black, the red, the yellow, the mixed race, the young, the old, the conservative, the libertarian, the liberal, the straight, the gay, the sober, the alcoholic, the addict, the NT, the Aspie, the privileged, the oppressed, the environmentalist, the industrialist, the capitalist, the socialist, the fascist, the communist, the free, the convict, the Protestant, the Catholic, the Non-denominational, whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever people you live among, meet the people around you wherever you have wound up being - that's why you are in the middle of them. Someone has to do it, and you are the one.
Okay, I'm done, gotta go fix dinner.
But there's still that question - what has me going today
Love y'all.
(yes, that includes you whom I have energetic disagreements and debates with, you know who you are )

You FOOL
There are others that offer the same results with other religions or faiths that can fulfill what you desire.
Do not limit yourself to chopsticks when a knife and fork are easier
Well, satanists are more real as persons, they're not necessarily evil, even if they believe in Satan, take for example the band members of famous satanic bands such as Satyricon and 1349, the people are really nice backstage\, one of the nicest people I've ever seen, they don't smile so much too the point that one has too kick them in their private area to wipe their smile off their faces, they're real people.
Even if you assume that, say, the gospels were written by the actual people they are attributed to (archaeological evidence apparently claims otherwise), then using the argument that there are contradictions goes against a well-documented psychological effect.
And then there's the fact that the various books were written at different times by different people. If I were Christian, I'd look at the gospels first, followed by the pentateuch (minus the first several chapters of Genesis). Why? Jesus was, at the very least, a prophet and by most Christians' beliefs, the son of God. Moses was the greatest prophet in the old testament (and the greatest prophet next to Jesus in many beliefs), and then I'd look to the prophets that came after him. Nobody's perfect, but there's a reason why Jesus is listened to over Moses, and it isn't because he came later. It's because he was closer to God. Moses was closer to God than Samuel, etc. For the record, though, I'm not saying that the list goes immediately from Jesus to Moses to Samuel.
Anyways, that's how you deal with contradictions. Sometimes prophets are wrong about God, but the closer one is to God, the more often they are right. That is how I deal with contradictions and I think that it would work with any religion. Take first the word of the wisest writer of the religion, then the next, etc.
Finally, you have to consider the context in which the books were written. Just reading the bible is not a good way to grasp Christian faith. You have to consider the setting of the time. There are historical reasons for many of the laws put forth in Deuteronomy that may or may not still have a purpose today. If someone has figured out how to choose a special interest, please share it, because having religion as a special interest would be very useful for many people.

If this refers to something I said, do the courtesy of quoting me where the words I used I state that some choice is between Christianity or Satanism.
There is one place I said there is offered a choice to accept Christ or not.
But if it's my words referred to, I'm apparently missing the statements I made about Satanism.
That name calling there might be a bit close to the edge of forum rules.
Actually, it might even be along the lines of an ad-hominem attack.
I am offended.
Which appears to be an implied put-down of people in societies which use chopsticks.

Keith, do you do this with Christians?
Yeah, I know, it can be said I sound like somebody's parent.
Probably because I am.
On top of that, I'm a grandparent too.
Guaranteed I'm going to say parent-like things at times.
It will happen.
Oh well, such is life.

Okay, people make choices.
And the evidence for that being my reason is...?
What did you observe going on inside my mind that led to my taking offense?
These 2 questions still remain to be addressed :
I'd accept a statement that you have chosen not to respond but would prefer some kind of specific responses.
