I don't think anyone could change my core values however when it comes to an opinion I might have on something, it depends on how persuasive their argument was.

Who?.................. Me - I could change my beliefs.
What?................. Another belief, or perhaps a realisation.
Only pseudo-truths are subjective. IMO there has to be an actual truth that comes down to the same thing for everyone.
Why?.................. If something else makes more sense - so logic. And if I see more potential for growth in another belief.

It sounds like you are able to change your beliefs quite easily. Do you often change your mind about things? I think that is a good trait, to be flexible and open minded. It's easier said than done though.

I've read that successful people make decisions and seldom change their mind, while unsuccessful people change their mind often and are slow to make decisions. I guess it depends on your idea of success.

lol! That's so funny that you say that because I had actually typed that it was going to be pretty difficult to get me to change my beliefs because I'm pretty set with them! But then I deleted it because I actually wanted to come across as more open-minded than that! lol!

That said, apart from my core beliefs I'm pretty all-over-the-place when it comes to other decisions and hardly even know what I'm doing hour-to-hour, let alone any greater plans! So I guess that makes me unsuccessful. But I refuse to give up, and I refuse not to see my life as positive. And I'm also very passionate about the idea that something could even change my core beliefs. I'm excited by the possibilities.

If God flew down from the sky then used his powers to smite my enemies, then I would believe :P

And if the many tentacled "God" stepped out of its flying saucer after smiting your enemies would you worship it? Or, like me, would you run like hell?

That would depend if it looked like it was about to smite me too! I may have to worship it just to prevent it from hurting me!

If anyone tried to smite my enemies then they'd have to take me out with them. Because I don't care how many tentacles they've got - I would not tolerate that sort of thing.

Aside from the gut satisfaction of smiting some son of a b***h who has nothing but selfish cruelty in action it is stupid and dangerous to sit quietly and accept personal destruction. there are times when smiting is the right thing to do.

Nope, I'm not going to stand around and watch people being smited by someone who has more power than they have. I don't care what bad things they may have done to me. I do not seek revenge. In fact I actively seek the opposite!

If I see some stupid nut start shooting people at random and I have the power to blow out his brains I will not hesitate. If you do not expend effort to block a major tragedy you are either more callous or stupider than I have thought.

Tw-i-st! That's not what I was saying at all. If I was willing to oppose the many tentacled-god for the purposes of the group, I think it follows that I couldn't sit by and watch a nutter with a gun cause the same sort of destruction. And I don't think it's necessary to shoot the person in the brains. There are other ways of disabling a person with a gun. I've never done it before and I hope I never have to.

I don't carry a gun nor have I ever needed one but there are times when I wouldn't think twice about using smiting power to whack out a jerk and I wouldn't be particularly careful about how I do it.If a so-called God appears to overpower Earth I wouldn't hesitate to atom bomb it even if it looked like Jesus Christ with wings. This is our planet and I don't get gulled by dumb disguises smeared over interplanetary monsters to dull the defenses of religious maniacs.

What could change that? Logic? no...if that were the case we'd all think the same way...

Nonsense. Logic is a set of rules for deducing new knowledge from assumed facts. Without the same assumptions, people may logically come to different conclusions. Since many facts and predictions cannot be determined with absolute confidence, people can reasonably disagree with what these assumptions should be: Many of them are opinions, preferences, and values.

There is a great difference between what a person will say as to his or her belief and what the actual belief might be. Duress and torture can produce all sorts of confessions of belief with little or no real substance behind them.
