I don't think the devil latches on and skews behavior, I also don't think animals are anything but natural in terms of the way they interact with the world around them.

Cats tolerate us. Horses put up with us and dogs love us.

Think about it. Out of all the species of animals in this world only dogs really and truly love us.

Only a dog will give his life to protect his master. Only a dog will mourn the loss of his master.

Dogs are not only our best friends they are our only friends.

Which only indicates that dogs are on the other side of the IQ bell curve.

And that is the reason I hold my dog in such high regard.

I also am fond of dogs, but ass kissing is not their most pleasing aspect.

Dogs are so god-damned stupid. The only dogs worth keeping alive are dogs that do something useful like seeing eye dogs, dogs used in herding livestock or guard dogs.

Frankly I cannot stand dogs. I don't like them. They are stupid and filthy. I tolerate working dogs. At least they earn their keep. One the other hand, I think cats are wonderful mammals. I like their attitude.

Speaking in tongues to invoke a mutiny against goblin kings.

I don't believe in the devil, so no. Even if I did, I wouldn't think this. I would think every animal (including us) is controlled by both God and the devil if I did believe in the devil, because every animal (again, including us) has a good side and an evil side. There is no such thing as any creature being entirely one or entirely the other. Sometimes it may seem this way, but truly, even my worst enemies had a good side. They just never showed it when they were talking to me ;) And even the most pure of heart people in the world have a bad side. Otherwise they wouldn't have the ability to develop an appropriate emotional gauge. Good and evil, to me, are like a yin and a yang, you can't have one without the other ;) Also, I know I mentioned people in the majority of this paragraph, but I also think animals, esp. the more evolved (if you'll pardon the phrase) ones (mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and amphibians) have the ability to know good from evil. My pet cats are a wonderful example of this, as there have been times when they have been both :)

I once discovered my pet cat forging my checks to buy catnip. I just caught him in time. He was about to invest in Bernie Madoff.

I'm nearly convinced my dog is an angel sometimes.

My parents say "When the angels are busy, God sends a dog." Why would Saint Francis of Assisi love animals so much if they were just minnions of the devil? I just can't see how beings that are so accepting and non judgemental could be agents of evil. My pet lizard has prevented me from commiting sucide and knows when I am having a panic attack and need her. Animals are angels in diguise if anything.
