I'll add my own two cents on this:

Dennis Prager and John Ralston Saul - a lot of respect for both, though Prager is more spirituality and culture whereas Saul is more economics and culture, they'd probably debate best on culture, ethics, and civic structure; either could try at engaging the margins of the other's area of expertise in that regard but I think they'd only get so far in that regard.

Here's one, virtually no intellectual stimulus but a great generator of vitriolic insults.

Pat Robertson vs Fred Phelps

I presume you meant to type "brother".
Do you think Malcolm X would have regarded you as his "brother"?

Actually, since Malcolm X and David Duke both favour(ed) racial separation, they probably wouldn't have much to disagree on. I'm not sure how Cyanide reasons that one of them is left-wing and the other right-wing ... or have we all forgotten the original question?

I second this one.

Fred Phelps v. Bill O'Reilly

I'd like hear what Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) would have to say to Jesus Christ's claims that he is the one and only "son of God" sent down from heaven to save all from sin. If I could be the fly on their spelt bread for a day just to listen in on that conversation, I would be more than gratified.

And Marx Vs Friedrich von Hayek

I think Marx would likely lose a debate to any of the major conservative economists of the twentieth century, simply because there were major advances in the field that occurred after Marx and have serious implications for his claims (ie marginalism vs the labour theory of value).

and one debate that I would dearly love to see, not from the political spectrum.

Richard Dawkins Vs Jonathan Sarfarti

- I am sick and tired of Sarfarti being held up as a credible foil to evolutionary theory, the man has a Genius IQ and can play a great game of chess, but his field of expertise is inorganic chemistry, not evolutionary biology.

Dawkins is probably not the best evolutionary biologist. He's more of a popularizer and polemicist than an actual research scientist.

You don't want a research scientist necessarily, you want a good public speaker who is an expert on evolutionary theory. I mean, to me I wonder whether Daniel Dennett would be good enough at this. He isn't a research scientist at all, but he is a philosopher and one who does a good job at seeming relatively open when assessing things.(His speaking and his writing don't sound polemical) The only problem I see with whomever used is that they might mishandle their opponent, as it is easy to mischaracterize a view they consider beneath their respect.

Ok, how about Buddha vs Nietzsche. This debate was actually one that Bertrand Russell wanted.
