So what finally happened to the angel-human hybrids? Were they sterile? :)

According to the OT, they were killed in the flood.

Well, you never know. It does say "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward", and in Numbers 13:33 is says "We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."

I've never understood if the Nephilim were the fallen angels, their offspring, or both.
Anyway, it's interesting that they say "the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim", since I read that in the Summerian mythology, the equivalent of the Nephilim had some kind of relationship with creatures known as the Anunaki, which is a quite similar name.
If anyone knows more about this...

Their offspring were most likely killed in the deluge, but perhaps they came back and made new ones?

For some reason, there is an interesting connection between nephilim-like tales about beings from heaven, reptiles and the royal class.
Royal power is almost always descendant from heaven or god. Also royals are often associated with various reptiles.
In China the dragon represents the emperor, in southern Africa the kings were descendant from the python, and the Aztecs also had some connection between snakes and kings, not to mention all the dragons in heraldry, for example.
Perhaps that's why, if Satan were also a fallen angel, he's represented as a serpent in the story about Adam and Eve.
Some claim that they survived and live amongst us even today.
