No worries about god being in control? The god who is so in control that he allowed more than a hundred thousand innocent people to be killed by the tsunami that hit Indonesia etc in 2004 ?

[sarcasm]Oh yeah, that god really has everything under control, doesn't he?[/sarcasm]

That frickin' god is so damn incompetent and useless that when he cooks, he accidentally burns even water.

Would Dick Cheney be referring to Emp or the God of Emp's imagination?

Hi, by saying that you would like to go hunting with me sometime (obviously that is intended to imply that you want to "accidentally" shoot me), you are demonstrating the common religious propensity towards violence and murder.

The christian bible is full to the brim with acts of violence conducted in the name of the christian god, murders claimed to be sanctioned by the christian god, and you revere this bible, and thus it is no surprise that you talk of shooting me.

In previous times, religious people WOULD kill me for the things I say -- in the last 2000 years, millions of people have been killed for disagreeing with a religion. Fortunately, religion has lost power since those times, and is continuing to decline as people evolve more, and it is now much more difficult to get away with killing someone for disagreeing with your religion.

I am very glad about this because if I was born a few hundred years ago, christians would definitely have murdered me by now, for expressing my disagreement with their religion.

emp, you misread another post. I think he was saying that Dick Cheny would like to go hunting with God, based on his use of the word 'him'(impling God) as opposed to 'you'(Impling you)

No Barracuda, you are the one who misread his post. For proof of this, look at this news article:

"Cheney accidentally shoots fellow hunter"
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/12/cheney/

So jaguars_fan's was saying that he wants to "accidentally" shoot me, thus demonstrating the common religious propensity towards violence and murder.

I will say that NO, not only do I not fear death, but I actually look forward to it. It will be a great day (for me). I mean I am not suicidal, but rather, I believe something absolutely blissful awaits me after I die, and after dealing with this life, I think I will have earned a much needed break from life, so I can't wait to see what happens. but.... I do have to live in this life for now, so I gotta try and make it great. When I die, its my time, and thats that. I only hope I will have accomplished what I want to first, and I hope I will not experience much pain, but I also hope there will actually be more people who will notice when I'm gone.

After reading Life, the Universe, and Everything, I found that there was a starship named after me: the GSS Suicidal Insanity. I know I already responded, but I think my postion on the matter of death may be a little clearer.

I am afraid of death I don't know why I think it's because of the endlessness of it all you know after judgement being in heaven for forever not being able to go back to earth but endingness of it all is freaky too

Saying that there is a special place for only 144,000 means either of two things: either there is a limit on "goodness" in the universe or the list of 144,000 keeps changing, which means if you're born and life a wonderful life and die and are among the chosen that "your being added" means someone else is being removed. I don't believe either is true.

>>That frickin' god is so damn incompetent and useless that when he cooks, he accidentally burns even water.<<

Does this mean that God made a mistake by making you, or were you "one of the things God didn't screw up?"

>>emp, you misread another post. I think he was saying that Dick Cheny would like to go hunting with God, based on his use of the word 'him'(impling God) as opposed to 'you'(Impling you)<<

Funny- the Chichimeca Indians of South America believe that one day god decided to visit Earth as a deer and as he was walking through the forest was shot by an arrow by a hunter who did not realize it was god. As he bled and hopped away over the horizon, he left pools of blood which were sucked into the ground and became peyote cactus. As such, the Chichimeca tried to kill their god and to this day consume his flesh (in the form of peyote) to commune with him. This beautiful origin story very closely resembles Catholicism because it posits the notion that man is harmful and god is understanding. It also reinforces the notion that we as humans tend to kill the messenger.

I died last year from an intentional overdose of pills- handfuls SSDI's, pain killers and sleeping pills with a Southern Comfort chaser and there's more out there than we know. I have no fear of dying at all- I actually look forward to it. "Knowing you're going to die" actually brings peace once you accept it.

I am at peace with myself and the world because I am not attached to it the way I always was. I take many more risks than I used to- I have no problem pulling over to help someone broken down or hanging out with the homeless and I look forward to the day Peggy Sue is jumping rope on Main Street and about to be hit by a Mack Truck because then I'll know why God put me here.

No, I believe that death is just like going to sleep.
