My one and only drug experience involved accidently eating some cookies laced with ganja. At least I have some idea what drug addicts are looking for, although it really isn't for me.

Drug addicts are certainly looking for a lot of things but Ganja is generally not one of them. Too light for the meth heads, not enough thrill for the heroin addicts, too laid back for coke/crack heads...

Meth heads are busy boring holes in their brain from oxidation and heat, heroin addicts have their own problem with their brains turning down the thermostat on endorphin production, most of the pothead friends I have are very ambitious guys who need weed to keep them level - a bit like Barry Manilow in Road Trip but a bit more highstrung and adrenaline sport junkee-ish. Have a few friends who smoked every day through through school for high honors. Admittedly that's not my brain chemistry, I was on antipsychotics too long so I rarely like that feeling, but... I get that plenty of people out there - plenty of people close to me - aren't wired the way I am.

So to add to what you're saying and a lot of people - lots tech workers- smoke weed. Lots of auto mall managers and owners even - smoke weed. Lots of engineers - smoke weed. Lots of CFO's even no doubt - smoke weed. Life is a vapour, its relative to each individual's chemistry, some people find that working out helps then greatly, some people find that medidtation and yoga help them greatly, some find that smoking weed helps then greatly, some like all of the above.

For now, I have a prescription for Sertralin. That's enough for me.

I doubt that legalization would lead to lots of public smoking. I think in terms of public intoxication, it should be held to the same standards as alcohol. Not everyone likes the smell of burning weed. But in any case if it were legal a large range of non-combustible methods would become available to the general public. Briefly, there was a 'Compassion Club' here in Montreal that sold marijuana to people, and during my sole visit there I saw:
THC lip balm (personal fav)
THC cola
THC cereal (looked like coco-puffs)
etc
So there are a lot of creative ways that one could safely ingest the substance for medical or recreational purposes

I doubt it too. Cigarettes are legal but smoking in public is getting banned everywhere you go. You mention the lilp balm, cola and cereal. REcently I bought an electronic cigarette kit that has those nicotine cartridges in them, and I've been wondering when someone was going to come up with a pot cartridge for those little vaporizers. While I dont' foresee criminal activity rising just because of legalization of marijuana, I DO foresee highways and streets full of pizza delivery drivers.

It's doubtful an e-cig cartridge would be developed any time soon but who knows.

There's THC everything...rice krispy treats, lolipops, cookies, and of course the classic butter.
