from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profanity

Profanity are words, expressions, gestures, or other social behaviors that are socially constructed or interpreted as insulting, rude, vulgar, desecrating, or showing disrespect.[1]

The original meaning of the adjective profane (Latin: "in front of", "outside the temple") referred to items not belonging to the church, e.g., "The fort is the oldest profane building in the town, but the local monastery is older, and is the oldest building," or "besides designing churches, he also designed many profane buildings". Over time, this meaning changed to the current meaning.

Other words commonly used to describe profane language or its use include: cursing, swearing, expletives, dirty words, sentence enhancers, cussing, blasphemy, and irreverent, obscene, foul, indecent, strong, pejorative, choice, bad, or adult language, and sometimes even "mature" language.

s**t! How the f**k is anyone ever supposed to be able to say anything at all around here, eh?!

There was one post by somebody somewhere a few days ago that was "cursing" (wishing ill upon) all the women in the world with a string of expletives going nearly across the page, and that particular "vent" seemed to hurt everything inside or outside of me after it had burned thought my eyeballs and hit my brain. That line was immediately deleted and a gentle PM was sent to the frustrated member.

I can agree with you sir. I've always been pleased with moderation at WP.
Yeah I've never had a problem with the moderation. I think the swearing rule is kinda strict, but w/e I'll just simply put stars whenever the censors somehow get bypassed. leejosepho has been doing a great job so far and goes about it in a really mature manner.

He keeps you off-balance - kindly grandfather one day, creepy stalking bird the next... ;)

But hey, wait a minute! Honestly, I just now happened to notice this:

"behavior intended to provoke or belittle other members" is at least a scant definition of "hate speech", but that rule simply does not apply here since I am only one and not "members" even though Gramps is right there and watching out for the SPCA while holding that bird by the neck.

Tired and silly, but likely not funny ... so, off to bed.

? I'm just as tired. I don't tend to get off work until 11-12, and then it's downtime and slowly crashing; I'm at the far end of the process. But anyways - I assure you, no provocation or belittlement intended. I like the bird. :)

@Natty_Boh: Please forgive. I was saying I was the "tired and silly, but likely not funny one"!

But I do thank you for the note, because I had begun thinking about dropping that bird over a fence somewhere and finding yet another avatar ...

... and I do hope you slept well.

That bird doesn't befit you, man. You need something like a lion ... or a fierce dragon.

How about this pic I once took for a company selling online dentures ...

I am really a nice guy, just misunderstood, eh?!

Maybe you should stick with the current avatar.

Nah, just kidding.

You're a nice guy, indeed. With a nicely trimmed beard. Wish I had the patience to keep such a neat beard on me.

That picture is from a much earlier day when I still bothered trimming anything! Even after taking a shower and combing nicely all the way down to my nipples, a shrink recently called me disheveled.

Some folks just have no sense of humor.

One flew Over topic

If I were to choose a bird, it would be a Corvid, specifically a Crow. I can see why crows and ravens figure prominently in the First Nations Trickster stories. Most intelligent avian species, according to some research.

...but getting back to topic: This pgd character does not seem to interact much with other posters. Could be more than one person using the account to post religiously dogmatic trivia.

A conspiracy?

I just don't get how are our wars even possible. Just about any other place not dedicated to politics would lock the threads saying that they don't want discussions about politics, religion or football teams disrupting the balance of their site and then they would put aromatic candles and start doing breathing exercises to scare the negativity away.

That is how/why I ended up getting banned from two Christians sites. I hate smelly stuff in the air.

Do you think PPR is an open-air sanitarium?!

I sure needed to find one after all that time spent in those stuffy rooms.
