As I understand it, the Egyptian populace was very mixed, with Middle Eastern and black African ancestry. Egypt was in it's heyday the center of the world, much as America is today, and thus attracted people from all over. Remember the story of Joseph becoming the Pharaoh's right hand man, and how he encounters his brothers years later after they came to Egypt from Canaan asking for food. A very good modern example of mixed race ancestry would be the late Anwaar Sadat, who bore both black African and Middle Eastern physical characteristics. I've seen footage of other modern Egyptians also with the same obvious ethnic background. Does that mean that ancient Egypt was a black African kingdom? No, but it doesn't exclude partial Black African lineage among Egyptians, either.

If Cleopatra could get it busy with Marc Antony and Julius Caesar along, then imagine how many of her female subjects may have had two or more Latin lovers? Now take into account that contraceptive choices were very limited in that age (circa 75 BCE to 25 BCE), and it seems likely that present-day Egyptians are descended from all the peoples surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.

Sure, Egyptians are African ... and Greek ... Semitic ... Spanish ... French ... Turkish ... Italian ...
