My question would be, and I assume the answer must vary with the practitioner, to what degree is the fall of the cards inherently significant and to what degree to they serve merely as a jumping off place for other consciousness.

If I were doing anything of the sort, I know the cards as determinant would be minimzed.

The cards are merely a tool.

Well sure. You don't let them rule your life. They are there to provoke irregular insight.

If I asked my cards if I should jump off a cliff, and the fool came up, I probably wouldn't.

Hey Moog, would you do a Tarot reading for me again please? :D

You didn't like the last one!

I'm more into astrology now. If you know your time of birth, PM me, I'll look your chart over for you.

I think I'm actually forgetting how to read cards

I know the game Rook - we have a pack somewhere around - only played a few times.

Whether it be ritual or cards or ball or beads - a major factor is refocussing.

fine fine oracle systems can be made from anything (although rich content is better)
get a hold of some old maid cards shuffle cut (while thinking intently about your navel)
lay out the top three cards in a single row and send me a picture.
and I will tell you a story.

Tarot decks being of great variety in their art, my first priority is to assess what the artwork in each card is actually showing, and consider the meanings that can be derived from them, rather than thinking about them as I remember them from other decks.

Kinda glad I don't have to bleed on a whole deck like I do with a set of runes, though.

In the making of a rune set, it is traditional to mix your blood with the paint you daub them with.

I did not know that. Then again, I haven't really studied reading/making runes in-depth yet.
