Its not worth being alive just for the sake of being alive. Vegetables are alive. And probably more valuable as living beings than a lot of humans, too. But still, "life or happiness" is a bit of a false dichotomy. I think there are things more to be valued than happiness. It has been said that it is better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a pig satisfied, and although that's a bit disrespectful to pigs, who are not as stupid as people think, nevertheless you will get the point, which is that the unexamined life is not worth living. Look for a life that is meaningful and worthwhile, not just for mindless happiness. That way you are more likely to find a deeper happiness anyhow.

Those are some beautiful words..

When I'm alone I don't even think about happiness, its simply, existing the way I can, the further I pursue music, the deeper I feel it, the more I know, the harder yet better it gets.

I feel too much like I've not done enough in my life (at 23). I am getting necrophobic to the extreme. I feel like I need to experience everything I want, not everything I can. It's the thought of having life with a deadline that makes me miserbale...

I like your attitude. Look for happiness and it will probably elude you. Let life be itself and happiness has a chance to find you, for then your ego will not get in its way. Some wise person once said, "The more I know, the more I know I don't know". That is the beginning of wisdom. And here is another quotation I like, this one is from the philosopher Spinoza: "All great things are as difficult as they are rare". Perhaps you are finding that in your music. Lose yourself in it and you may find yourself. Or better, you may find something beyond yourself that is richer and deeper than yourself and your little happiness.
