It's a non-issue because plenty of higher-up Muslim men in this country take more than one wife within in their own community but not legally. It's preferable, for me, to adultery...but I still don't think I'd like it to happen to me. That's what happens in the Muslim situation, the men choose polygamy and it's a situation that the women don't choose, it happens to them.
If were to be legalised here, I prefer it if polyandry was, as well. I don't think polygamy would ever really be that popular (it's not really that common amongst Muslims) and polyandry would be even less popular.
I heard polygamy is the norm in Saudi Arabia and there are a lot of single men and this is directly connected to extremism and Jihad. I heard a guy talk about it on the
Michael Savage show while I went somewhere by car the other night. It's what got me thinking about widespread polygamy values in the US.
Not a reliable source for thoughtful non bile-filled discussion,
While polygamy can increase the age of first marriage in males it does not necessarily decrease
their chances of getting married in their life time polygamy encourages unequal ages in spouse and thus produces more widows than monogamy.
Also I don't think polygamy rates in Saudi are high enough to make a difference.
