I don't know. We would have needed to see a dozen ridings change hands, which means a sufficient number of voters held back from the polls or changing their declared voting intention. That's a pretty high bar to meet.
But, "I don't know," is not a good enough answer in our Parliamentary democracy. Nothing short of an unquivocal, "No!" is acceptable.
I believe that the Prime Minister is playing his hand badly here.
It would take a lot, but it's not totally implausible. We're only talking ~6000 votes remember. At the very least, there are a few seats which could easily have gone to someone else. And in any case, these dirty tactics are just morally wrong, as I'm sure you'll agree. And yes, the Prime Minister should be taking this seriously rather than dismissing it as a "smear campaign." I'd be much more willing to believe that this was the result of some rogue members of the Conservatives if he was more cooperative and showed more concern.
