If I was British I'd be voting Green. Unless I felt that I needed to vote strategically to defeat the Conservatives (not that I think Labour or the Lib-Dems are much better for the most part). If I was voting for the London mayor I'd vote Jenny Jones (Green) and put Ken Livingstone (Labour, but his ideals seem slightly more aligned with mine compared to the rest of the Labour party) as my second choice vote.

Excuse me there's two other areas voting for a mayor today, Salford and Liverpool.
I voted for Liam Fogarty as my first choice and the Green's candidate John Coyne as my second.

I've only been vaguely following the election (it's not particularly relevant to us Canadians after all). The only mayoral election that the Green Party website keeps track of is the one in London. So that's about all I've seen. I wouldn't even be able to say who the candidates are in the other cities.

for my city. Might as well cancel a soccer match at the Rogers Centre on the 21st July as your country has no interest in my city!

Oh dear, I actually had to look up what the Rogers Centre was. Shows how much interest I have in sports.

for my city. Might as well cancel a soccer match at the Rogers Centre on the 21st July as 99% of the world has no interest in my city!

Fixed it for you.

I'm not picking on you because you're Scouse. I can't stand Mancs who think Manchester is the centre of the universe. I'm unchauvinist enough to admit that Liverpool is a nicer city than my own to walk through, but Paradise on Mersey it is not.

I agree with you about Old Labour - I've always been a Labour voter, but I am quite disappointed in them now. I would vote Labour if the candidate was good but they didn't even bother to leaflet here.
I'm really a Labour voter too. I was ecstatic when Labour won the general election in 1997 and Scotland had no Tory MPs. But, soon after, I became a LibDem supporter. LibDem were more left wing than New Labour and gave the impression that they intended doing good things. I don't think previous LibDem leaders would have led them to the mess they're in now.

I see that the (mostly) brainless, British public have forgotten already how AWFUL the Labour part was in power last time.
They (Labour) spent 13 years trying to turn the UK into an islamic state AND totally destroyed our economy to the point where it will take 25 years to recover.

I hope that I never live to see those loony left TRAITORS in power again.
Their leader is the son of an illegal immigrant and shouldn't even be in Britain.

Wow, now I'm an even stronger Labour supporter after reading that. :P

You must be on a quite small and esoteric wing of Labour then. ;)

I figure that the more time Labour spend in power, the more hilarious rants people like piroflip write. Therefore creating more lulz on the Internets.

I happen to think he's more right than wrong, actually. But then I would. ;)

Fixed!! Thank you for the complement. Am aware of the issues my city has, too much of the regeneration of my city over the ten years has been in favour of out of town corporations. eg. Grosvenor Group and Peel Holdings! The economic boom on Merseyside has not really been helping the local business community and the whole of the local community in general. Eg. very little job creation to resolve the regions unemployment issues, plus the "fur coat and no knickers" attitude to regeneration.

I think your find that there is international interest in my city. Has Manchester has the bottle to host two large street theatre performances in the last four years? NO. Has Manchester has 1.2 million people in the streets over the Saint George's Day weekend, NO!

Does Manchester have its own embassy in London, NO! Did Manchester (and London, they pulled out of it) have there own pavilion at the Shanghai Expo two years back, again NO!

Joe Anderson is my city's mayor, and if your aware of the local politics of my city then you be aware Joe Anderson has too many connections with the private sector, especially with Peel Holdings! The Liverpool City region right now has £130 million from central government all thanks to having an elected mayor, its a start & its better than a kick in the teeth from Westminster. :wink:

Well done for Liam Fogarty for coming second and for getting a post in the Mayor's office :D

Mancunians would just go, 'those giant puppets are f*****g stupid, stop wasting our money!' :lol:

That said, I also think the Trafford Centre is f*****g stupid, and Mancs seem pretty proud of that.

Liverpool = tacky cultural beacons
Manchester = tacky commercial temples

We get gazillions of people on the street every year for Pride. Which is also tacky (and very commercial).

Don't worry, I live in the UK and the only mayoral election I've heard about is the London one.

That's because, in UK terms, Landahn is the centre of the universe.
