No. We need to pull the troops out, not put more in.

It's most certainly not Canada's fault, and I did not mean to imply that at all - the choice is/was our responsibility and ours alone. That said, Canada does hold sway to this country that many here in the US do not even realize - in particular that Canada & Mexico are two of the largest owners of US debt. If the spigot was turned off, or even implied that it would/might be, we'd simply have no choice in the matter.

You know, I was thinking that if any one country was going to make America shut up (I'm talking leaders, not the people) it would be Canada and I think the world be like 'Whoa, where'd that come from?'

America needs it. Who better then their quiet, peaceful friend to the North? Could you imagine the headline? America told to 'cool it' by Canada, America flabbergasted.

I think the answer is to build a wall/sea of landmines around the boarders of Iraq to its neighboring countries. the only reason why the enemy is able to keep getting more troops and support is because of the aid and troops they are getting from other countries. Cut off that supply and you'll eventually limit them to very rare random acts of terrorism. We call them "insurgents" for a reason, that being that a large portion if not most of them don't come from Iraq but from neighboring countries. If we cut off or limit insurgents access to Iraq eventually we'll weed out the terrorist in Iraq, theres got to be only so many people willing to give their lives for their cause, and that number will limit drastically as the boarders are tightened.

The vast majority of deaths in Iraq are due to IED's, explosives either beside or on roads. They are made out of various things, have varying trigger mechanisms (timed, remote controlled, sensitive to tampering etc...). This will go on for quite a long time and the more troops we send only create more targets. We need to find a way to win the trust of the Iraqi people and help them understand that we are there to help them. If we can do that then eventually the people themselves will rise up against the terrorist and stop aiding/assisting them. I am not saying that all Iraqi's support them but I am saying that a large portion of their population does not have a positive opinion about us being in Iraq.

^^^This is why we need to blanket Iraq in pro-US propaganda.

We especially need to get religious leaders who'll preach in favor of the US.

AND we need to get some of the really high ranking clerics preaching in favor of the US, either through bribes or through threats.

And don't forget assassinating those who won't go along with it. Hire the Mossad, they're good at assassinations.

Rumor is that Saudi Arabia has quite possibly beat them to the idea, at least threatening the same kind of financial no-confidence vote, with Cheney's recent "summoning" (exactly what the heck does that mean?) to Saudi Arabia over Thanksgiving weekend. Curious to see how things play thus forward.

Looks like we may be headed in the other direction....

They're calling for "major withdrawl", but expresses no timetable at all.

We have to withdraw eventually.

Right now at least, there's enough democrats NOT in favor of immediate withdrawl or a timetable, that I'm not too worried about it. What bothers me is that the Democrats have a huge opportunity, one that I think could do this country and Iraq worlds of good, to make some changes. But while some, especially the younger ones and most of the ones that just got elected, are in that camp, others, headed by Pelosi, are more interested in kicking Bush in the nuts (figuratively) than in being constructive.

Sorry but even if that happens, do you really think Amereica will listen to a country who has taken a leftlet from France. But don't let that stop you from living in the Land Of Oz.

We took some statue from France. What was that thing called again, oh yeah, the STATUE OF LIBERTY!! ! We also took their assistance in the Revolutionary War, and most historians will tell you that it was WAY more than just assistance. Simply put, without the French, we'd be British.
