Actually, a lot of it is a matter of opinion, as it contains numerous squishy terms that can be readily interpreted to cover just about any situation; it's a classic CYA boilerplate and subject to plenty of interpretation (see: swearing).

Also, I'm kinda with panda on this one; you're showing up in a lot of threads lately to mock and belittle people who are questioning moderator calls. I'm not making any insinuation about your motives, just pointing out that the pattern is plainly visible and not a figment of anyone's imagination.

For the government to refuse it? Or for the owner of the channel to refuse it?

Censorship is restriction of speech, press or media output ordained by government. A the owner of a privately owned newspaper, auditorium, station or website is at liberty to refuse whatsoever he wishes.

Actually, I am mocking what amounts to poorly thought out and ridiculous positions. I don't care about people's personal relations with the mods. If you and others would prefer I don't contribute to these threads, because of whatever reasons, well... too bad, unless you would prefer to censor me ;) I am not concerned with who likes me or not

I have seen him do that, but only in situations where the person doing the questioning clearly doesn't have a leg to stand on, and is being absurd.

I have not seen him do that when someone has a half way viable point.

I would like to point out I also did that to you using a Flash Gordon video, and (I'm dead serious about this, honestly, if I do this I expect some retaliation) I am sorry you did not get a chance to defend yourself. The reason why I am bringing this up is actually so you can respond to me after I said it on another thread, and I had to wait until a relevant topic I wanted to post in happened and you did this again to let you have a chance. This might be another "WTF HerrGrimm?" moment, but seriously, if I am going to do this to people, I expect some backlash in return. So let me explain my position and then you can respond:

It was not because I was defending the moderators. I was mocking you because you are trying too hard. And this trying too hard is useless, because if this is happening you have no control over it, and I am amazed how people want the rules loosened so they can say what they want, when in reality it gives the moderators a better chance to ban you over how vague the rules would be for this to happen.

Besides, I am more of a creepy stalker than you anyway. We did both pass the Test of Manhood, it is just that you use your powers for the force of justice, while I use mine for mockery and trickery.

It is more useful that there be a free press. It lets out steam. It's not like newspapers change anything.

Have you been living under a rock the last year?

Murdoch phone hacking inquiry pass you by?

The one where celebrities, politicians and the police all admit to being terrified of the press and their power to destroy careers with false gossip or bury potentially career ending indiscretions so that you sail on unscathed?

Or how after the press created the MMR scare, parents stopped vaccinating their children and case of fatal measles, mumps and rubella went up hugely? etc, etc, etc.

Similar things happened too before the printing press. More slowly, perhaps, but just as destructively.

Admittedly, I was not thinking at all about such cases, more about politics, and my last sentence was to be understood as "the press doesn't change anything at all about which groups hold real power in the long run". Even if, in specific instances, the press can be dangerously stupid (as opposed their typical benign stupidity), I believe it is still more dangerous to prevent them uttering their non-sense than to let it go through, since the press will unite in expressing their feelings of oppression, with many people in agreement, which could cause unrest. To be precise, so long as a regulation is not perceived as oppressive to anyone, I am in full agreement, even if it limits freedom of expression.

(I corrected a typo in my first post.)

Censorship should be used when the person talking is an idiot. When I say idiot, I don't mean low IQ, I mean the person is an as*hole.

Nah, don't censor them, censure them- they have the right to speak, but you have the right to point out how much of an as*hole they are! Everybody wins!

Is there an objective criterion for asshole-icity?

During times of war its fine, since there are certain aspects that should not be made public due to security concerns and such. During "normal" life, censorship of any kind is an infringement on freedom of speech and expression and should not under any circumstance be curtailed outside of legal boundaries. Threats, libel and such do need to illegal acts though.

If you were being held hostage during a bank robbery, would want the local TV station broadcasting the images of the swat team about to enter the bank?

Really? I have nothing to gain by voicing my opinion. Furthermore, the TOS is not really a matter of opinion. Feel free to go and read it any time you like, or feel free to be a fool and throw insinuations around, I don't particularly care about your view on my motivations, though it says a lot about yours that you accuse me of brown nosing when my post was in disagreement with a mod's interpretation of censorship

Oh, you're good.

Do you have anything useful to say, or are you going to continue the butthurt induced by my pointing out how stupid whining about "censorship" on a private web page is.
