I doubt humans evolved from monkeys. Most likely, humans are just another species of ape and were never actual monkeys. We evolved from some kind of algae.
We did not evolve from monkeys, monkeys evolved alongside us from a common ancestor.

But it does make you wonder. Why such diversity? Can the theory of evolution really explain why humans are humans and why other land mammals exist that are so different from us? We all live on land, so how is it there's so much variety? Theory of evolution seems too simple to explain it all. That doesn't mean God did it. Maybe there's another explanation? What if it's just something in the DNA?
The amount of variety on land pales in comparison to the oceans. Evolution does explain diversity. The only way there could be a homogenous biosphere is if every single living cell changed in the exact same way at the exact same time. This is obviously not the case. Micro and macro evolution on an unimaginably grand scale is what is responsible for the diversity of life on Earth. 99% of all the species that have lived are extinct, just to put it in perspective
It is easier to comprehend evolution when viewing life as a physical translation of genetic code
Ultimately to go delve into the origins of life is not necessarily what evolution is about, but rather how life changes over time. The origins of life are more likely to lie in the fields of chemistry and quantum physics
