Sex, dinner, after dinner sex, dog food, ironic armchair... depends on who ends up with the body I guess.

Didn't he once say Atlantis would arise from the sea by the 1970's?
I'm sorry, I'm just not a big believer in latter day prophets. But if what I had posted about Mr. Cayce had offended you, I apologize. :oops:

According the bible when people die their body decomposes back to the ground.

(Gen. 3:19) In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.

Death is simply a sleep-like unconsciousness.

(Eccl. 9:5) The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.
(Ps. 146:4) His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.
(John 11:11-14) ‘Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.’ . . . Jesus said to them outspokenly: ‘Lazarus has died.’

Death is the exact opposite of life.

(Rom. 5:12, 17, 19) Through one man [Adam] sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned — . . . . By the trespass of the one man [Adam] death ruled as king . . . Through the disobedience of the one man [Adam] many were constituted sinners.

Usually there are around five stages to decomposition.

this "superstitious brigade" of one votes early and often, with Rumi on one side-

I died as a mineral and became a plant;
I died as a plant and rose to animal;
I died as animal and I was a man.
Why should I fear? When was I less by dying?
Yet once more I shall die as man to soar
With angels blest. Yet even from an angel
I must pass on; All except God must perish.
When I have sacrificed my angel soul,
I shall become what no mind ever conceived-

I don't see any reason why humans would get a fancy afterlife but crickets and fish would not. Making fancy tools and oversized ant-hills for a few thousand years was sufficient for the gods to wizard us up some souls? Na.

The universe went along well enough for 13 billion years without anyone in this generation keeping it company. It'll manage once we're gone.

I voted "other" because it's impossible to be 100% certain what happens. Whether or not there is no soul in the body and the brain is all we are, does not mean that some being we can't see or interact with doesn't just recreate a new body and brain and puts all of the knowledge people had on Earth, into their new brain.

It could also be that if there is a such thing as spirits, they were never human or physical to begin with and maybe physical beings just die and that is it, while spiritual beings, or whatever those things are, may have very different life cycles than something physical might have, maybe they are immortal.

Since it's impossible to be 100% certain, all we can do is speculate about the possibilities.

I have strong religious beliefs regarding this matter but I have also found confusion with others who share my religious beliefs

Many other Christians believe that you go to heaven or hell after you die. But the scriptures seem pretty clear that once you die - you're done - there's nothing. Then after several thousands or perhapsp millions or billions of years, All the dead are raised and you go to either a newly reconstructed earth or to a pit of eternal flames. I realize this imagery is likely alligorical but nothing in it supports any notion of a heaven or hell.
