I can identify on levels with Buddhism and Valentinian Gnosticism the best. Atheism seems like its just squashing the wishful thinking element which if the need for the divine in ones life really is just an emotional crutch I'd like to squash it within myself - however I see where there while it seems intuitive I can't just jump on that wagon because IMO the story of the other two religions I just mentioned also seem compelling. Unseen strings are unseen strings. If you can't see outside the box its tempting to say the box is the only thing that exists but at the same time you really don't know if there's support beams, rafters that its perched on, religion when done right makes an honest attempt at drawing the outside architecture with whatever means the people of that group feel they collectively have. Another real funny thing is quantum mechanics, that also opens up another whole can of worms in terms of the possibilities that science and some forms of religion may find some common ground or proof of each other.
