Bunch neo-cons get butt-hurt over losing an election, and now they want to punish the rest of the country by their absence.

They should change their label to "Emo-Cons" ...

Ok, people are acting pretty stupid on here, if a state wants to secede, we actually have to let them secede. Of course the chances of our government letting that happen are slim, it's not like you'd be calling people who threaten to move out of US guilty of treason... States wanting to do that is just because of the fact that they want to leave our country but keep what they have. That's not treason at all.
Of course I disagree with them leaving, that creates a pretty nasty vulnerability situation on the US's part, and we're supposed to be working together despite our differences and ups and downs... which makes all this secession biz pretty unsporty. But still, aimlessly insulting them doesn't make you sound any more intelligent then those trying to secede.

This is an old joke about Texas but it's too funny to resist,it's from the year Gore ran(and won).

"I'm Gay, for Gore, and I'm here to take your Guns".

If you make it out of Texas alive than you have won "Texas Survivor".

I am not a native to Texas, but I have lived here for almost 30 years and I am not in favor of secession. I believe as Americans we should stick together, we have much more in common then some would have us believe.

Well, I think an independent Texas would be interesting....

I'd love to see the Libertarian Super-state in action! You know, show us slackers what a nation of John Galts can accomplish!

Quite frankly I wish I could secede from the whole world sometimes, but I have read enough Philosophy to know that would be unhealthy. No man is an island I am told.

Let Texas try first. Just let 'em try.

I give 'em five years before they're conquered by a nation they started a war with and come crying back begging to be accepted as a state again. Tops.

The folks in Texas know damned well that the petition to secede will be denied. It is purely a ploy to make a point in public.

If a majority of Texans support secession, I think we should let them go. Same for all the other states.

They should change their name to Galt-O-slavia too.

That's about enough people to fill a medium sized Texas town. It isn't representative of one of their cities, let alone Texas as a whole.

No one is going to take secession seriously, just because President Obama got re-elected.

That petition will be given all the attention it deserves.
