Exactly my point ... any religion that those people may have had (not to mention the religions of their victims) did not prevent violence or hatred.

'Course, nowadays it seems that there is much hatred against religion.

Mike Huckabee is the biggest joke on the planet. hmm, yes Lack of god in the schools had everything to do with this latest tragity. What most viewing audiances fail to relise is this guy has an agenda. what is it? Turn america into a religious christian state

So yeah, it is necessary but not sufficient.

Like ruveyn mentioned though. That was more of a cult of personality, a religion of Stallin than actual atheism.

Atheism is good for a neutral state . For politics and armies skepticism and humanism are more required than atheism. Someone with reason and critical thinking would not have been a Stallin fan.
