Al Jazeera is like Russia Today, or Fox News.

When they are talking about a story which doesn't have much to do with their interests, they can have an interesting take on the story. When they are talking about a story that hits close to home, they become swivel-eyed lunatics. They provide good training in how to correct for bias, which is a skill that people need. And actually, in a funny way they can be less insidious than more "reasonable" sources, since it is so easy to spot the bias coming.

I trust the Qatari government about as much as I trust Rupert Murdoch or Time Warner or whoever. Not much.

Al Jezeera does provide a different perspective on things biases aside as said, watching any cable news you're going to need a strong BS filter.

We'd be better off without Al Jazeera mainlining propaganda to the US.
That's likely what they'll do (why not?) and once they have a foot in the door it will be hard to stop them.

I am sure al Jazira will be a major source of anti-semitic crap to spew on the American public. The problem is there are a lot of people in the U.S.A. who are latent anti-semites and may very well pick up on what al Jazira spews.

I am sure al Jazira will be likely to report on dozens of "sinister Jewish plots". They might even do a musical version of "The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion".

I am not as optimistic as you are. Listen, if there is a multitude of people eating up the crap that Fox News feeds to them, why is it unlikely that many will eat up the crap that al Jazira feeds them?

Because Al Jaz is connected to Muslim fanatics, terrorism abroad and radical Arabs while Fox News as seen as "All American." Sure, some bozos will fall for Al Jaz just like you have some going over to Pakistan to become American Taliban. That fanatical element exists in most societies.
