That would make a believer out of me.

for me the paradox of heaven is that if it is inhabited solely by the sort of people who subscribe to the idea of heaven it would be my idea of hell.

Because you'd have to concede that they were right and you were wrong?

Which is why God encouraged taxation. Twice, in Matthew. Paul also explicit;y said that not paying taxes is considered a rebellion against God (i.e. a sin) in Romans 13.

This whole thread is nonsense. If heaven exists, it is outside of time (otherwise we would be able to travel there). Ergo, the idea of "government" in heaven is ludicrous.

Paul also said that slaves ought to obey their masters. There's a lot more support in the bible for slavery than there is for government.

I think that this Earth's *governments* created slavery.

Yeah, when God inspired the writing that details the logistics of buying and selling slaves, he totally meant 'No government is the best government. Ron Paul 20Forever.'. You want to talk about what keeps men enslaved? How about the invisible, all-seeing man in the sky who will judge everyone after their death, and he's not saying you have to act a certain way to be judged favorably, but you better not be a gay man or lesbian woman before the 2000's if you know what he means. Also, you better not eat shrimp. For some reason that's totally hell worthy too. Even if the Bible did lay down the exact specifications for any form of government, earthly or not, it would hardly be an irreproachable endorsement.

If a slave doesn't obey their master then they are punished, That isn't supporting slavery, that's advice.

Paul tells slaves to serve their masters as if they're doing the work for God, remember.

no because heaven would be full of narrow minded, homophobic sociopaths with contempt for the poor and adversed.

All the cool people, like Bob Marley, Che Guevara, Andy Warhol and Joe Strummer are going to be in the 'other place'. Heck I'm not even sure if JC himself would get into heaven himself because of his contradiction of all the Old Testament gumph.

it could be argued that you are complicit in the slavery for not offering challenge to the master.

Jesus and his personal adherents were a huge thorn in the side of the Roman hegemony in the land of Judea.

Really, have you any understanding of the true nature of Communism as described by Karl Marx. Because what you are describing is very much in line with Communism.

I suspect you are confusing totalitarian dictatorships which the media erroneously describe as communist. Communism according to Marx occurs after a period of Socialism and is characterised by a stateless society where all produce is free and abundant, where people get along because they have reached a higher level of consciousness arrived through the learning process of Socialism.

There's no sin, no sickness, and no want in Heaven.
What is left for a government to DO?

(P.S. Any place that has taxes is not Heaven!)
