Let us see how many Americans remember this after three weeks or so.

In any case, I doubt this will change many views on Chris Christie. He's a moderate Republican from the Northeast in an era the party is moving further right and further south. Most other Republicans will not respond to his frank, combative style because they are not from that culture.

How sweet.... :flower:

Maybe he's just trying to speak his mind. It tends to happen when people read news stories, and this story has been making headlines around the world. It kinda reminds me of Toronto mayor Rob Ford, whose political controversies also captured global attention.

The shout-out to New Zealand was really quite sweet, though. Kia ora. :D

Oh, okay. Have at it, then.

And yes, we'll have Hawaii!! ! :D
(Unless the indigenous Hawaiians want it back for themselves ... but that's a whole other story.)

I've come to accept you for all the wonderful things you bring to the forum, if not necessarily intellectually-stimulating debate.

If you're a Kiwi, you're an elf (or a hobbit, etc.). There's no getting around it. :dwarf:

...

As for Chris Christie, both he AND the mayor of Fort Lee have stated that the Christie administration did not actively seek out the mayor's endorsement for Christie's re-election campaign. And there also appears to be other Democratic mayors who didn't endorse Christie, whose towns did not suffer any kind of apparent retribution.

Which raises the question of why did these Christie staffers and appointees wreak havoc on Fort Lee. The Rachel Maddow Show offered an alternative theory yesterday – and a kinda complicated one, at that – although it's not without its holes.

I wonder where all this will end up.

I find it strange one man can control a bridge like that. Seems like there would be more checks and balances, not just his authority.

According to Christie he didn't know anything about it until a couple days ago and that it was all his aides fault, nobody believes that tho.

Let's see....media is all up in arms over an insignificant incident while a president who's run DC with Chicago gangster-style politics has gotten a free pass since 2008.

Nothing of note to get worked up about until the bigger sin is condemned.

You mean the death of a patient in a ambulance trapped in the traffic is insignificant?

It's sad that people pretty much expect politicians to act this way. Most people that learn about Watergate now wonder what's the big deal, we've come to tolerate a criminal government.

Four died in Benghazi...still waiting for the hammer to fall on that, but the media won't go after it.

After all, as Hillary said, what does it matter NOW if someone lied?
