Funny how people who ARE the Federal government like to preach about "big government" while they take home $170,000 + per year while pretty much sitting on their ass all day.

Where I work, having a M.S. or PhD technical degree, or M.D. is common. Also, many of them also have law degrees.

It is expensive to keep employees who have say a M.S. in electrical engineering (a hot area), and a law degree.

At the big firms, starting salaries for patent attorneys in the private industry are 160,000-185,000 / yr.

Many quit the government, because it is a semi-dead-end job, and the pay of $150,000 / yr on average - after 8-12 years - is just too low.

I have functional problems from my ASD, otherwise I would likely quit too.
