The listed precepts are in of themselves benign, and more or less summarise the inherant message of many religious 'prophets' and 'eniightened ones', however considering the fact that the source is Scientology, it's about like a s**t filled Twinkie. --Innocuous and innocent looking enough on the outside, but pure nasty inside.

This assumes that somehow "morality" (or lack of it) causes these crimes. But it isn't it usually poverty and the economic crisis? From what I read on wikipedia this city sounds somewhat similar to Detroit, shrinking population etc. Eventually the poorest people will be left and this is the result. Fixing their economy would be more useful than this I think. Or give the residents a plane ticket to a wealther location.

Flint is *worse* than Detroit.

so poverty is the root of all evil? i would LOVE to tell you just exactly what i think of this theory of yours, but i'm sure it would get me banned from this forum for all time.

truly, one of the most disgusting opinions i have ever heard expressed, ANYWHERE.

If your beliefs are so strong you must reject the idea of poverty having "any" association with crime; is this correct?

Have "you" ever lived with others in abject poverty?

The poster said: "morality" (or lack of it)" was not the important factor....would you disagree?

Do you know "why", when the lights go out in a poor neighborhood, that a large portion goes out looting? It's because this is probably the ONLY lucky break they will ever have in their entire lives; and this is also the reason the news shows them practically ecstatic over looting a damn TV set.

I believe you were a little hard on the poster.

If that's the case the government should airlift the people out of Flint. Even Detroit looks like a warzone. If they ever make a movie based on the Fallout games they could film it there.

And let's not even get started on Gary, Indiana.

+1, though I doubt many of them can either afford it or find the care factor to do so.
There's a reason someone came up with the phrase, 'Entrenched Poverty.'

As for the topic, I hope no one ever tries to implement such a plan. Sounds like the blind leading the blind in that town.

Essentially what you do is stand on an Interstate onramp with your thumb out.

Also, I see that Gary, Indiana was mentioned. --Ltets make this a trifecta of urban decay with the mention of:

East St. Louis, Illinois.

The airlift would need following up with the provision of jobs, education and hope for the future otherwise you'll just end up with Flint 2.0 Better still leave the people in Flint and take the same action there to turn the place around - a monumental task requiring a huge amount of political will and money either way.
