Some of them are fine with violence and other acts that most consider indecent.
For example, some of the people in the Norwegian black metal scene.
I was "exploring" a few years ago, and I found a certain (theistic) sect that claimed that Lucifer was actually the creator and that God messed things up, and that Lucifer would eventually smite God, all the angels, and all the people who didn't worship him.
Essentially Christianity in reverse, I guess.
IDK if burning an empty church is really violence....Christians historically have burnt people alive, so comparatively...you know.

I thought the black metal guys who burned those churches were more about the old norse faith - which lacks a satan figure.
Also, if they claim to worship odin, they are morons because early Christian chapels in Norway are lousy with hidden references to that faith.

Oh yeah there is that bit....though some are certainly more into the satanism. Though in old norse faith there is Loki...not an exact equivalent of the christian concept of 'Satan' but he is a devious, trickster kind of god, then there is Hel ruled by the goddess Hel where the dead that don't earn their way to Valhalla go. Also I believe it was meant as symbolic opposition to Christianity destroying old norse culture/belief system but of course it doesn't undo or fix the past...though I am sure there are indivudals who just wanted to burn something who may have played along with the 'deep offense' of what was done 100's of years ago.

I'd say that burning down an ancient church is very very horrible too. Some of these people committed murders too anyway.
There were Satanists too among them. I read an interview of one of these guys once, and he put the stress on the fact that he actually believes in a horned devil, not the "humanistic" kind of Satanism.

Well I know specifically of one murder...but sounds more like it was a fight between both parties that ended in the death of one, because well fighting with knives isn't a safe thing to do it would seem. Though the murderer...I believe completed his prison time....interestingly enough the band the guy who got killed was in lost their first vocalist to suicide. Then released an album cover featuring a graphic picture of said first vocalist post suicide, so you can see he literally blew his brains out with a shot gun. And legend has it some of the band members may have ate some of the brain and a necklace may have been made from some of the bone fragments or something(not sure if any of that is true though).
Also in some of the opinions...its the only thing to be done since said ancient buildings have been tainted...from their pre-christian uses.

David Griffin's AO Golden Dawn decided to invite E.A. Koetting to discuss black magic, they spend about half an hour hemming and hawing over the Order of Nine Angles thing.

What's particularly interesting is the Bible can be interpreted in psychological terms. For example, when Jesus calls the gods of Canaan demons, he is really talking about the demonic energy prevalent in the psyches of men (and women) and the way it takes form in the material world thus, an idol is created in which man's psyche fervently obsesses. Such worshiping is viewed as signs of a weaker culture by the Hebrews. So Ba'al and all his forms are diminished to the role of demonic energies, or destructive. Now, some will argue they really aren't destructive, it's all a big misunderstanding, but in reality, to the Hebrews, the demonic forces were the very essence of destruction and would lead to the ultimate downfall and death of an individual. This was their true understanding of them and they didn't romanticize the way modern Satanists do. To them, an individual such as Ramirez who hides in the dark, looking for households without dogs to warn by barking, only to strike by surprise, torment, terrorize then kill, would be someone under the influence of evil, or a Satanic energy. He would be channeling Satan and it would lead to the ultimate destruction of Ramirez, which it did, along with several others. So, there you have a clear representation of the energy and can discern it in other situations where one person is hell bent on destroying others, including themselves. When noticing, you are in the mindset of Jewish mysticism and how they view this particular energy even though it's not necessarily how everyone views it. I go along with the Jewish interpretation because they are the ones who came up with it in the first place, so why take away the meaning they assigned to it? It's like taking the god Zeus and giving him a whole new identity even though he's a Greek god.
The -el suffix means 'of God' and the four archangels of the quarters - Raphael, Gabriel, Michael, Uriel - all have names similarly describing themselves as aspects, or in Michael's case a certain kind of redundancy in the sense that his name seems to mean 'likeness of God' where Gabriel's name means 'Strength of God', Raphael is 'Healing of God', Uriel 'Light of God'. I don't know what 'Cynic of God' or 'Skeptic of God' would be in Hebrew but you might essentially be able to identify that as the being that was dubbed ha satan. It would be the portion of God's personality that sees flimsy, weak beings of dubious integrity that would want to kick them for existing and it was as if in Job the higher mind was having it out with that aspect.
The OT seems to be humanity's skeptic, always doubting mankind and placing God as their ultimate judge. Think of the movie, True Grit. A man kills his benefactor then takes off in the wilderness while no one does a thing, significantly reducing the odds he will ever be caught to pay (humanist construct) for his crime. In this story lies an example of what I am talking about. Such an individual, and I am sure Hebrews had plenty like them, too, would answer to no one unless, we tell ourselves, there's an unseen God who he will, eventually, answer to. That helps the ones he victimizes deal with being victimized. They tell themselves, fellow men cannot catch this guy and bring him to justice but God, one day, he will face God and God will do the punishing we are not allowed due to circumstances of our material incarnation.
I do agree with the idea Satan is just another of the el - "of God" beings however since he is not a part that honors the goodness of God, he is deprived of the "el" suffix. It is a way of calling him out on his cynicism. He hates mankind because God loves mankind. This is the reasoning behind Satan wanting to destroy humans. He is jealous of God's love for them. It is angels alone who should bask in the glory of God.
Job was numbed by the experience so he will no longer fear loss. The story is about a man who appears righteous but has lost everything. Most of the Old Testament theme concerns men who take action against the Mosaic Law, only to face reprimands and repercussions from God but what about the poor guy who everyone loves and has done nothing, goes to the temple every week, has never cursed God, stolen, murdered or committed adultery, yet catches leprosy, has his home sacked, looted, and burned to the ground, or loses his family in a tragic accident? No one has written a book for such an individual who needs counseling on how to cope. So, along comes the book of Job. It's like counseling for a grieving man and it offers hope. One day, God will give you a better wife, better kids, better farm, more money, more favor, just be patient and hold on. It addresses the response that might have been common then and happens now, "what did you do to deserve this? You must have done something!" I see Christians using this line of reasoning today. When a whirlwind happens, must be because you committed a secret sin of some kind, otherwise this terrible destruction wouldn't occur in your life. God is saying, shut up! You have no idea what you are talking about and it's none of your business anyway! Christians need to read this book more often. It addresses the way we judge each other in times of tragedy.
It seems like a simple story for a Rabbi to disclose during a time of sickness, suffering, and loss. They try to make sense of it. If the person experiencing it appears righteous, he will have a more difficult time explaining it to others who will add to his misery by determining, he must be an evil person putting on a good act. These Bible stories were for Rabbis to tell others as a form of counseling before the invention of psychology.
A true Satanist would kill others because in doing so, he destroys but it's an oversimplification to believe those channeling Satanic energy only do so by sacrificing children in a ritual.
People calling themselves Satanists do not always channel this energy while those not going by any label can. A lack of awareness exists, either in themselves or others.

I've only seen 'until the light takes us' - they mostly talk about the churches being an affont to the old religion.
Varg absolutely stabbed that guy, and probably burned those churches. And Frost is a poser douchebag.
Well I don't know what happened but Kristian (lol) is kind of a douchebag so is not to be trusted much. Fact is he was condamned and was in jail. About Dead I don't think they helped him much either, I read that Euronymus would run after him with a chainsaw on some occasion, for example.
Btw Bard Faust from Emperor had avances by some gay person and he simulated an interest, only to brutally murder him once they went to a park to make out. They say he was one of these who were given pieces of Dead's skull. They were really out of their mind.
Lol I don't think that's why they burned them down.

Oh didn't see that, I think some of them were satanists/hated Christians too. I don't know this Frost guy, what did he do?

I have heard cases of parents murdering their children because they were under the delusion, 'god told them to'...Also it would seem the whole burning at the stake of suspected witches and such carried out by protestant Christians was rather ritualistic as well...the idea was to cleanse the souls of corruption to 'save them' I believe the same reasoning was used for such occasions previous to the colonization of the U.S. Anyways does that mean all christians burn/kill the non-believers or kill in the name of 'god told me to'.

Yes he did stab that guy...a while back I read some long as essay he wrote about why he stabbed him, so there is no doubt about the fact that he did.

Yeah there's no doubt he did. Question is if they really were having that big of a fight or Varg just thought it was cool to stab him in the head even if there was no need. I can totally see the latter happening.

That's nice. Now I have something more specific to call those people I ran into back in college. Thank you for answering a decade-and-a-half-old question. I owe them a debt of gratitude, because they forced me to finally explore some things I'd spent my entire life up to that point trying to deny.
Now I'm going to go back to forgetting them, and being thankful that I got the hell away from them while forgetting was still a possibility.
I'm enjoying this thread. It is most educational and informative. Had it existed in the early 2000's, I could have saved myself many fruitless hours of Internet searches, about $300 in used books, and several dozen (possibly hundred) hours of stupid questions and existential agonizing (but the existential agonizing was good conversation and the coffee was hot, so I'm not sure I'd want to give it up anyway).
