If you reed the ep 3 novelisation part of him did actaully beleeve it, becos he dident wanna beleeve that Palpatine was an enemy to democracy, beeng his only reel frend for the past 10 yeers, as opposed to the Jedi, who had just denied him mastership, which was wot he needed to get into the temple archives and look for a way to subvert profesy - ie, his profesy that padme was going to die.

The difference is clearly that Atta is not nearly as flamingly gay as skywalker.

The Empire was a completely bigotist sosiety, and even if it wasnt, any none-democratic govorment will inevitably become unjust sooner or later. It needed to be taken down. The Old Republic had grown corrupt, but it was a helluva lot better than what came after. If Palpatine hadnt taken over, i gess the Old Republic wood have been a ripe target when the Yuuzhan Vong arrived, becos it wood have had no militry, but that dosent make what he did to the Jedi, and to all the aliens of the galaxy, and to democracy itself rite. Paticly when, sinse he coudnt have nown about the impending invasion, it coudnt have been a factor in his decision to do so.
