There was a KKK protest like very close to where I lived a few years ago, it was literally like less than 10 people that flew in from out of state behind 2 fences with police in between with like a 1000+ counter-protesters. It was a bizarre thing to see, like some weird ass zoo exhibit. This group were basically doing the WBC shtick, it's not a sign of broad support. These people ALWAYS draw a counter-protest 10x larger.

Also I think it's pretty silly to try to drag Trump's father into this for an arrest, which means nothing, almost 20 years before Donald's birth. Let us remind everyone that the KKK was essentially the armed wing of the Democratic Party in the South which ruled the south as essentially a one party state since the end of reconstruction so maybe it isn't a coincidence that the KKK's disappearance came around time the Republican Party started making inroads in the south. Food for thought, think about it. The former Democratic Majority Leader/Keagle and Exalted Cyclops Robert Byrd who was also 3rd in line to the presidency from 2007-2010 deserves mention too, does Hillary disavow him?

Yes! Thank you. I've been trying to put my finger on it but couldn't. You nailed what was really bugging me about him! Seeing it in text makes it far more obvious.

He strikes me as incredibly arrogant, charismatic, and manipulative; but even then, i couldn't fully place it. After all, so are a lot of politicians. He kept saying things that weren't saying much of anything (even - a wall..mexico will pay. Oh yes, i'll make them pay) and that seemed one of his most specific plans. More so than most politicians who by definition seem to make broad declaratioms.

It also explains why i'm so baffled that anyone would defend him and say he'd never, ever support the kkk, while to me...it wouldn't be a surprise at all. We're all filling in the blanks with our own perception - far more so than usual.

And the march, are you referring to the civil rights anniversary march that thousands attended and was not about 'the new black panthers' as the statement implies?

Yes, and he marched with them in the crowd nearby.

If say, Trump or any other white right leaning politician marched in some event with KKK leaders nearby, what do you think the media would say?

You're welcome. I can't take credit for it as I saw this reported in a youtube video. But I did remember seeing it not long back. :)

Trump is a straight up bullsh*tter. He knows how to play the game and how to manipulate people. He's as dishonest as any politician out there, probably more so.

In 1927, Donald Trump’s father was arrested after a Klan riot in Queens:

I'm just waiting for the lie that stops Trump's run for president. It needs to happen. I'm not a fan of politics, but Trump is probably the worst out of all the people running. He's racist and just a scumbag in my view. Sadly- there's so many racists in USA still :( If he's elected president, just imagine how many leaders of other countries he would tick off...

Citation for racist?

I recall he said illegal immigrants rape and murder; which is true. Whether that's a reason to deport them all or not would depend on statistics and what constitutes a fair percentage of serious crimes amongst that demographic compared to any other.

He also said to curtail Muslim immigration until the terror threat is sorted out. Unfair? Perhaps, but it's a sensible policy if you care about your own citizens more than those outside of such. We're still individual countries after all.

I can't think of any others, but I haven't been following it too closely; I haven't had anyone show me a direct "racist" remark yet, though.

Who cares, if Trump sued the media for each time they lied about him in a defamatory manner he would have them all bankrupted and be richer than Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

Their fault. They attacked the KKK march, which is protected under your 1st Amendment. Whilst the KKK may hold opinions people don't like, they're only opinions and are protected under your laws. There's video of it all out there, and the KKK were defending themselves.

As for the thread, Obama marched with the "New" Black Panthers. Puts things into perspective, yes?

If by "things" you mean Trump's comments on white supremacist groups, then no, this comment about President Obama adds no meaningful perspective.

The reason the KKK rally in Anaheim, a city with a sordid history of deep KKK involvement in local government, was brought into the conversation was not to address the question of who was at fault in starting the fracas there, but rather to put the lie to Jacoby's comment that the KKK does not exist.

The KKK definitely still exists. I live in Anaheim, and I've been invited to their rallies.

"And bring some friends" the latest flyer read.

It didn't turn out very well.

Your understanding of racism or ability to parse language may be inadequate, then.

Trump's comments about Mexicans are, without doubt, racist. That there are some criminals among that population does not somehow make his generalizations about them acceptable, nor does his grudging admission that "Some, I assume, are good people."

In political campaigns, it is helpful to remember that some candidates authorize the apparent attack of their own campaigns by presumed "others." They do this to appear more strident about certain supporters (guaranteeing that those supporters turn out to vote), or to appear less strident about other supporters (guaranteeing that they appear more accommodating to other voters).

In U.S. presidential campaigns, my experience (longtime convention delegate, candidate security staffer, and campaign leader and adviser) there are so many machinations, it takes all those staffers to understand it all.

That sounds right. "The Prince" is the standard introductory text on the subject, but the working out of that kind of tactical and strategic thinking in the context of a modern American campaign is extremely complicated.

they exist sort of like vampires exist, like i said I been to one of these protests and its 100% a joke. It literally like 10 people + a ton of police protection and then like 10x the counter-protesters. Like the WBC.

It wouldn't bother me if he marched with the old Black Panthers. At least they weren't racists.

Since when do illegal immigrants by default rape and murder people?...granted some have but to generalize them all as rapists and murderers is inaccurate and fear mongering, for a lot their only real crime is the illegal immigration status. Also 'some groups in the KKK may be totally fine' that doesn't imply that maybe he's somewhat of a sympathizer to racist organizations? Also if I recall he said 'mexicans' and didn't even specify immigrants...guess I'd have to go dig up the quote though.

Also only banning muslims but letting non muslims from the same region immigrate here does not make any amount of sense. If they figure terrorists are coming in that way....then it would make sense to cut off any immigration from that region.
