Right. Most people associate "Hoosier" with Indiana, and "Buckeye" with Ohio.

But I heard that "Hoosier" is St Louis-area slang for a "redneck/hick" type.

Hm, interesting. I had never heard that before.

Generalisation on the basis of skin colour? Pretty sure there's a word for that...

Unfortunately, like any group that perceives themselves as being on top, whites fear the notion of sharing power and/or wealth with out groups will lead to them losing either of those things. That's especially true of poor whites who believe they need said out groups (blacks, Latinos, etc) to be held below themselves, otherwise they'd risk being at the bottom of the ladder. Power elites, seeing a chance to divide and conquer lower class people, encourage poor whites to believe this idiocy, rather than embracing those out groups who should be their natural allies.

I'm embracing political incorrectness!

Gods children fail to represent who and what God is, myself included. We can't represent a prefect God because we are imperfect, everyone is judgmental including myself. I for one don't believe you or anyone else in particular is going to hell and I believe my God is greater then vengeance. God is coming for all his children, which I would guess includes the ones that don't see it. However regardless of if you disagree or not, your argument is invalid on the bases of freedom of speech even without all the religion crap.

I personally think though I have no scripture to back me up is that you have to reject God after its been revealed to you in order to go to hell and I believe everyone is giving a clear choice. Even if you reject God your whole life and die, I believe your still have the opportunity accept Christ as God. My God doesn't tear down and destroy, he rebuilds and restores. I refuse to be believe that he sends anyone to hell except those who reject him in anger and have hatred in their hearts because they can't be all powerful and in control.

You'll never be all powerful or in control.

I reject him because I don't follow your religion, its got nothing to do with anger or hate. I've had more success with the Nordic gods, particularly Freya. Granted I am not 100% certain any gods exist, but if not then at least the placebo effect of praying to Freya is helpful....praying to your god was never helpful.

I am a poor white person and none of what you say is true of me, or any other poor white people I regularly interact with. Granted there are people in my economic demographic who could be described as you say....but it's probably best to specify 'some' instead of making blanket generalizations.

Has anybody ever heard the word "Hoosier" as a derogatory term for a "backwards" person?

In The Outlaw Josey Wales the little Jayhawker granny mentions that she never cared for Hoosiers.

I'm poor and white, too. I admit, I probably over-generalized. But I think it's safe to say, those poor whites who are given to racism and any other form of bigotry are almost certainly inspired by fear that they are about to lose what little they have to some other group that just wants to get ahead.

I'm not exactly poor but I am not rich either. Rich whites consider me a "loser" while poor whites call me a "city boy". Being a white person has never benefited me in any way. Who were most of my bullies at school? Other white kids. I liked heavy metal while they loved country music and considered metal "devul's moosic". Which girls have rejected me romantically the most? White girls. I wasn't a "Christian" in their eyes but they were having pre-marital sex with other guys who called themselves Christian.

Totally agree. This is a huge reason why my faith fell and shattered on the ground. When the depression I've been suffering from for almost ten years now really kicked in, the Bible Belt culture told me s**t like "God answers your prayers!", "God has a plan for you!", and "Jesus loves you so you shouldn't be sad!". Guess what? Praying did not change a damn thing! Even when I considered myself a Christian, I always felt like I was in the dark. I never felt like I had a purpose which is what so many stupid Bible Belt morons claim being a Christian is supposed to give you.

I'm sincerely sorry you had to go through that s**t. Just remember, those buttholes aren't Christ.

Thanks. I really don't have a problem with Jesus, it is just that a major chunk of his fan club makes my blood boil. They don't want to be like Him, they just want his autograph so they can get a cheap pass into Heaven.

The thing you need to grasp is, it is not the n****rs or the spics or the homos or those man-hating feminist c***s taking things away from you.

It's mostly other whites.

PS

The idea that generalizing is bad is just PC police propaganda!! !
:P
