I care about rhetoric. In an autistic world possibly most people would vote and act based on policy positions. We are in a NT world where hidden meanings, tone, body language are much more important then the specific policy positions. As Trump has not been elected yet he has not had the chance to take any actions so all we got we to go o is actions unrelated to presidential policy and rhetric, tone hidden meanings and body language. If you believe in an autistic traits spectrum, Trump is as much on the NT end as one can get.

Trump and Clinton both say they want tax cuts on the poor and middle class.
Sanders wants to raise taxes on the poor and middle class.
I recall Bernie saying he would raise taxes on the rich, who can afford it. As for everyone else; his argument is that a tax hike would actually pay for itself, as medical care, college, and other services that are so expensive would be free. Doesn't sound like such a bad proposition to me.

For one thing, I wish I could vote for Bernie in the general election.
For another, I'd only vote for Clinton because of the racist animus Trump's been unleashing for the sake of gaining votes. Sure, I care about the economy, but the way to take care of it isn't to divide Americans against Americans.
As Trump brags constantly about how he's going to destroy ISIS, I wouldn't hold my breath on the staying-out-of-war thing. George W got us into the Middle Eastern quicksand, and we're still trying to extradite ourselves.
I don't believe Trump is a racist, I don't think his policies are racist, you seem way more concerned with rhetoric that actions. The Clinton's signed NAFTA, they signed the crime bill, the signed DOMA, they pushed deregulation, 'birtherism' was the work of the Clinton's. Most Bernie supporters see Hillary as an unacceptable choice, the Clinton's are criminals and the epitome of Washington corruptness. Trump is the better candidate for Bernie supporters, if not him then Jill Stein or Gary Johnson, or just plain not voting. The Clinton's both belong in prison.
Trump very well may not be a racist, but he certainly knows what language to use to rile up his base concerning racial issues. Trump recently attacked the judge in the Trump University case, calling him a "Mexican." In fact, the judge is an American citizen by birth.
What racial issues? Who cares about rhetoric? I care about actions and the Clinton's actions deserve to put them both in prison for the rest of their lives. The people so heavily invested in race are the media and the Democratic party which is completely married to identity politics even above economics, they are the ones exploiting racial division as they shift to the party of capital controlled by the interests of Wall Street and Silicon Valley. Wag the dog, pay attention! Do you care about actually care about the poor and working class or has that belief been totally abandoned?
What racial issues? The fact that Trump is a magnet for white supremacists who see his talk about illegals and Muslim extremists as code for slamming all brown people hardly seems accidental. His very slogan, "Make America Great Again," implies going back to some allegedly better time, which wasn't so great for many Americans of color or differing sexuallity, in fact.
As for the Democrats - there is actually a difference between exploiting divisions, and righting past wrongs when it comes to Americans of different races and ethnicities.
And sure, the Democrats are way too connected to Wall Street and Silicon Valley, but do the Republicans offer an alternative? At least with the Democrats, there are voices like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren calling for the severing of those ties.
As for caring for the poor and working class - the Republicans and conservatives are the very last people I'd look to for that task.

Republican leaders aren't better which is why the base of the party radically rejected and overthrew it's supposed leaders, Trump's pro-American populism is the future of the party or at least is the way it makes it seem. Make no mistake this is a hostile takeover, one that could only be waged by a warrior like Donald Trump who has the wealth, stature, and cajones to be independent of this entrenched establishment and willing to go to war with it. He won and they lost, most politicians are mercenaries(a lot nicer term than I probably would use IRL) who follow the political winds AND THE MONEY more than being true ideologues so I definitely see things changing. The internet has democraticized flow of information and it turns out that most Americans do not think that their own government has their best interests at heart, this populism has always been apart of the American spirit but now the grip the powers that have controlled this country for decades is finally loosening to enough to allow real opposition and real calls for change. Our elections have been a joke for a long long time, superficial issues nobody really cares about. 2012 was an embarrassment and now 2016 is the correction of that narrative driven manipulation. The GOP has always had an underclass and now they are starting to wake up to the fact that there more of them than they are those that wish to control them.
Illegal immigration and the fight against Islamic extremism are issues that very important to a good majority of Americans, those that try to paint those issues as something only white supremacists care about are purposely trying to poison the well on those issues. There isn't anything racist about wanting secure borders and to not want to invite a literal fifth column into this country, look at the damage that it has done in Europe already. Do you think I am racist? Do you think my views are racist?
'Make America Great Again' is a POWERFUL statement and one I strongly identify with because it is absolutely true in my life growing up where up where I did around the abandoned and forgotten people of this middle of this country. I walked thru the ruins of a once great America in decrepit rotting factories and boarded up shops every day of my life, in the birthplace of American progressivism. I physically can see the decline, the decay, my people were abandoned and that doesn't mean white people. Wages have been stagnant for more than 40 years, the jobs are gone, education inflation and debt slavery has made upward mobility an impossibility for so many and not like you'd even get into college with pathetic excuse for schooling we have in this country, things have not gotten better. The city I grew up in, the birthplace of progressevism and American socialism, has been called the most segregated city in America and that is not just racial but economic. This country needs radical change, the coastal elites can't understand this as they have been so fortunate as the rich become richer and the poor become poorer but that has to change. This is the start, not the end.

Was it the fault of progressives? Or was it the actions of plutocratic right wing elites and greedy corporations who sought to purposely destroy progressive gains in government and by workers?
And Trump can talk about fifth columnists and illegal aliens all he wants, but those fans of his who are racists will interpret that as code for damning all brown people of the Muslim faith, or of Latino heritage. And either Trump knows perfectly well this is how his rhetoric is being taken, or if not, that means he's as dumb as a stump.

Who gives a crap about how rhetoric is taken? These people are American citizens and free to vote however they want, why are you so obsessed about what they are doing? Would you jump off a bridge if they told you not to? It's a silly nonsensical way of voting. Code words, what does that even mean? You think these people were going to vote for Hillary but like some Manchurian candidate are activated by Trump's words which he really doesn't talk about even a fraction of the amount that the media talks about. You are very easily led astray Bill, they know how to manipulate people like you exactly how I said. They've tried to poison the well of the issues of illegal immigration and Islamic extremism as racist issues, you can't talk about them without being a called a racist by these people and that's exactly what Trump's fight against political correctness is about. We have corrupt media that has a incestuous relationship with our government and the interests of big business, in the past they were able to control the narrative as they controlled the media but as I said the flow of information has been democracized thru the internet.

I care how the rhetoric is taken, because something ugly has the potential to be unleashed among white supremacists who have been flocking to him.
And if I'm easily led astray, so are you, as you've fallen hook-line-and-sinker for a billionaire (maybe) flim flam man who promises you the sky, and all the ice cream you can eat, without telling you how he's going to accomplish any of this. I expect his policies to have as much substance as Trump University.

I support Trump because he is the best candidate running that most closely represented my views. I agree with him on trade, immigration, and foreign policy. He ended the political dynasty of the Bush family and has embarrassed the media talking heads and neoconservatives, he's won his credibility with me.
I don't see white supremacists behind every corner, it's not an issue I am too concerned about. The issues we have in this country are institutional, not individual.

Well, he simply doesn't represent my views. A friend told me that, as Washington was bound to go Democrat regardless, he would be more likely to vote for the Green party, rather than vote for Clinton. I'm beginning to see the wisdom in that, at least as a protest vote. So, I very well might be casting a vote for a Green or socialist candidate, as either of those parties represent my views and values.

I can't agree with your premise; Sanders wants to further the rights and encourage the participation of ordinary people. I can't see how Trump would want that. One thing I feel they both have in common is that they both have hair-brained ideas that will never get the approved funding needed to carry them out.( It appears they've forgotten they are not going to be elected as Kings or Dictators with absolute power) I can't vote for Clinton either as I don't feel she would be much better than either of them. I will just have to sit this election out unless I just cast a protest vote for some 3rd party candidate.
Poor whites are the ones flocking to him.
Clinton's message to poor whites: "America is already great", so SUCK IT UP LOSERS!

Not just poor whites, but racists with affiliations to dangerous organizations, such as the KKK. Poor whites and racists are not always synonymous.
And do you really think Trump really has any concerns about the people he considers to be rubes, other than getting him into the White House?

Isn't the truth that 90% of Americans don't give a hoot about illegal border crossers and foreign Muslims?
We've killed millions of Muslims in my lifetime, and I don't lose any sleep over it. But somehow Trump says we should screen for Muslim terrorists, and all of sudden he's a racist?
A poll came out recently that said the majority of Americans support Trump's temporary ban on Muslims.
That is an odd part of Clinton, to think Americans actually care about foreigners.
So linking Trump to hate groups is irrelevant.

What non-white female Trump supporters are saying:
- He puts Americans first
- He recognizes the difference between illegal and legal immigrants
- He understands that we are here to pursue our American dream.
- He’s going to put American cities first
- He’s real and he speaks his mind.
- We have so many rights here that I would not get if I was in my country, and Trump wants to protect those rights
-We love this country. Trump is going to surround himself with good people
-We’re going to be better off with him

He's not talking about screening Muslim immigrants - which is already being done - but about banning them entirely. Trump is accused of racism and bigotry because he labels all Muslim immigrants as potential terrorists, when in fact, as in the case of the Syrian refugees, the vast, vast number of them are in fact the victims of terrorism.
