I can almost guarantee that they will not let him play the "autism" card.

Why? Worked for that one hacker iirc. Following a politician around planning on killing them is obviously a whole other matter.

Would you want him to be able to play that card? That's just going to say that Autistics are cock-a-doodle-doo.

OF COURSE NOT!! !! !

Why would you even think that I would want him to have any benefits? The man tried to kill someone.

BBC: Trump suspect Michael Sandford was a 'very quiet lad'

Quote:
A federal public defender said he had autism and had attempted suicide, the agency adds.
...
"It's so against his nature and obviously with his Aspergers, we think somebody has got hold of him and done something."
...
He arrived in Las Vegas last Friday and reportedly went to a local shooting range to learn how to use a gun.

I think this kid is mentally ill and/or learning disabled. Maybe he does have autism.
Anyway, his plan had some huge holes - learning to shoot the day before his attack, trying to grab a gun from a security guy, good grief.

Great another piece of negative publicity, I know I'm not exactly sane but I have been told off people my whole life that I'm one of the kindest and most compassionate people they've met and it takes me a lot of effort to be a good human to other people I come across and leave positive impressions, I know there's many thugs and dangerous lunatics that don't have mental conditions but it don't help having people like this broadcasting autism, it's no excuse for his actions nor is it a brushstroke of paranoid fretting people should apply to anyone else with it. The media usually report them as ''loners'' which is kinda insulting to the 99% who are perfectly resplendent despite having social issues or preferring their own serenity.

Killers, and people who want to kill, come in all shapes and sizes, all neurologies.

I hope they quit emphasizing his possible DX. Ugh.

They won't. Accountability is not popular word with media.

I wonder when the girlfriend is going to be named as person who talked him into it or a person trying to avoid his stalking her.

I wonder what kind of "radicals" he hung with (he parents think SOMEthing HAD to change him)in Hoboken NJ?

I've been doing homework and not listening or reading the news. I didn't know anything about a girlfriend. Where did you see that?

I wouldn't be surprised if he did it for his girlfriend. Even if we don't know this as fact, GUYS learn from this and don't try to kill Trump for your girlfriend. Women are just not worth it.

I would say most, if not all, guys here are not that suggestible. They have their own minds.

If a woman told a guy to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge, he wouldn't do it.

All this guy is doing is using it as an excuse, a plea for leniency and maybe the hope that he'll just get deported back to the UK instead of having to face prison time in the US. I'm sure the prisons in the UK are lovely, probably nicer than my first apartment. It's Norway but you should see the abode that Anders Brevik has, you might be jealous.

From what I've seen of them on the news (and what I've seen of American prisons on the news and TV), there's not much difference. However, I don't think you're wrong about him preferring the UK. It would let him be near his family and it would also stop Trump being able to stop him being released in the unlikely event he is president.

Yes, the coverage of the event (and all over "shootings") has glamourised the attacker and might well inspire copycats. They need to stop reporting facts about the lives of violent criminals, and we need to stop eating them up.

People with autism can be easily influenced, which is something to take note of.

The bombardment of Trump = Hitler [and similar] in the media might just have had an influence. A normal person might just see silly political rhetoric, but a mentally disordered individual might not.
