Sentient people.

They hurt themselves, when left to their own devices.

So, those not deserving shouldn't be allowed to have freedom to keep them from harm?

Or, should they be allowed to harm themselves, wantonly.

That is the paradox of govt.

Have you ever broken-up fighting animals, in real life. It's physically dangerous.

Or, does the situation take care of itself.

No one is just sentient, or self-harming, but a combination of both. Some lean one way more than another, but even that can be due to circumstances. Our nature is flawed, and so it's up to us to just muddle through, while giving a hand to our brothers and sisters who might be more prone to falling down. Regardless, in this case freedom has to be for everyone or no one. I prefer to allow everyone to be free, and give that helping hand when needed.
Incidentally, I have tried to break up fighting cats, and got mauled. The thing is, human beings aren't animals, but are all capable of being sentient.

(Springer Spaniels, in heat.)

Are they making a conscious choice, to do that.

Also, can't you get mauled, by breaking up fighting people.

Are they making a conscious choice to do that.

Am I their keeper / overseer.

I will say that I voted for Donald Trump. I don't like the direction the country has gone in over the last 8 years of Obama. When Obama was first elected back in 2008, I wan't old enough to vote. I was not a fan of him then, but I was willing to give him a chance. He turned out to be much worse than I expected. I'm not the biggest Trump fan either, but I am willing to give him a chance. Yes, Trump has flaws and he can say some ridiculous things, but the alternative in my opinion was much worse. I am just glad we don't have Hillary Clinton. I am a conservative so I pretty much vote republican. If Trump had not been the nominee, I would have voted for whoever the republican nominee would have been.

I voted for Trump. I would have voted for Bernie Sanders but Hillary and her friends at the DNC fixed his wagon. I voted for Trump because if he won he would be a wrecking ball and a sledge hammer for taking down the current political alignment. Apparently a lot of Americans had that in mind also.

I don't particularly like Trump. I think he is a dolt and culturally a barbarian. But as a wrecking tool, I think he will do just fine.

Under the proper circumstances, even the most sentient of us might maul each other. That's why we have laws, and a social contract, to prevent such outbreaks of rage.

I heard at work that leader of the UK opposition party, Jeremy Corbin, claims Trump is " fake anti-establishment".

Here is one of my possible scenarios :-

The ruling elite/Establishment/corrupt Political status quo/International Bankers, they want a Global Government and a Global Monetary system so that they can take over complete control of the world.
In order to for instance, bring in a global monetary system, they will have to crash the current one.
Now, they don't want to get the blame or look like its they themselves who are forcing their will on us, so, how about this Populist vote that's all of a sudden being allowed with the likes of Trump and Brixit, the ruling Elite could be pretending to allow us to reject their rulership over us, so that they can then crash everything, blame it on us for rejecting them, then come and rescue us from our foolishness via even more control over us.
Order out of chaos that they can blame us for due to the populist up-rising?

Geez, that's a totally friggin' BRILLIANT thought----and, a little scary, if it is, in-fact, what's happening!!

Absolutely not I did not vote that man.

The greed, arrogance, childish behavior, none of it works for me. I did not vote at all because Bernie Sanders was cheated out of a nomination. My conspiracy theories about that are a whole other topic but simply I am a democratic socialist like him and believe giving power to a 1%er like Trump is very bad.

Men like that do not self regulate. Economics do not trickle down. It is the duty of the common man to hold the successful man to a higher standard. Because that society benefited them so much they owe more to society not to have every exception made for them to not "punish them for success".

With that said I hope the people around him keep his stupidity in check.

Unfortunately, I did. And apparently he's so awful that friends have threatened to never talk to somebody who voted for him. Obviously I screwed up.
