All of this is just so... utterly WRONG.
First off, Newton's Laws still apply; they haven't been "shot down" by Q.M., simply because at the macro level (i.e. the level of ordinary, everyday reality) they still work. Neither Relativity nor Q.M. "replaced" classical mechanics. That's a myth that far, far too many people believe.
Secondly, as I understand it, homosexuality hasn't been in the DSM since the early 1970's. Did it take you this long to notice it? Besides, the DSM is basically a guide, not a "how-to" when it comes to diagnosing someone.
Thirdly, cigarettes are no longer approved by doctors because it has been found, via the scientific method that you clearly have no idea about, that they actually KILL people.
Fourth - "Electric shock therapy, lobotomies, LGBT corrective therapy are now out." Um, yes, because they have been found to NOT WORK, quite apart from the fact that these procedures are completely unethical and bloody barbaric.
Maxwell's laws - oh for God's sake, is this a joke?

I can. My faith in human honesty and basic curiosity on issues of accuracy is pretty well shattered at this point.

It's not quite this on or off though.
We have an accrued body of knowledge that keeps adding congruence and it tells a particular story. What's quite possible is that, in the gaps, we might have interpretive problems based on faulty inferences or, at very fundamental levels, we could have our understanding of reality inside out based on the wrong 'big picture' assumptions. On the other hand it seems like a 4.55 billion year old Earth, life being 3.something billion years old, and gradual increases in complexity are filled out well enough that there really isn't much room to argue that these congruent observations are completely wrong either in their timescale or the unfolding process that they describe.
We could be wrong to say that it was all random mutations, the question of epigenetics comes up in terms of how much adaptation by awareness and learning can rewrite dna and it could turn out that there are other ways that genetic changes can travel that we don't understand. It's one thing to say that fine details could change, or that our fundamental understandings about the intrinsic nature of matter could take a significant overhaul, but highly unlikely that the structure of what we can observe and compare in such a manner as we have with the history of evolution would encounter some new bit of information, let alone a few lines of scripture, that would cause it to unravel in its entirety.

In a first year quantum physics course in college, the physics professor will show you the "double slit experiment" and explain how Newtonian physics fails, and we need a new understanding to explain the motion of matter.
Here is a website called "physics experts" that explain that ...
"In general, the behavior of the sub-atomic particles cannot be described by Netwon's Laws".
http://www.physlink.com/education/askexperts/ae392.cfm
So, no, matter does not follow Newton's laws of motion.

Again, classical motion is not the nature of reality.
"Maxwellian electrodynamics fails when quantum mechanical phenomena are involved"
https://physics.stackexchange.com/quest ... of-photons
Again, these are physics experts.

It took a whole lot of PHD scientists that many years to realize their mistake.
That shows you how awful science is when it takes 30+ years to correct a mistake.

It took many decades for scientists to figure out cigarettes are unhealthy, and barbaric devices don't work. That shows you how awful science is. Don't forget about the human suffering.

This only applies at the sub-molecular level. For explanations for how things work at the level that we directly experience, one must use classical physics. For planetary motion, Kepler's Laws (which are a subset of the Newtonian) are applicable. One would not use Q.M.
So, yes, matter does follow Newton's laws of motion.
LoveNotHate wrote:

Well, actually it is. If one is going to talk about "the nature of reality", one must include all scientific theories that describe, or attempt to describe, it. One must include classical physics, relativity, and Q.M.

As opposed to most religions that have been around for thousands of years and still haven't even acknowledged their mistakes?.

This is not present scientific thinking or what is taught in physics courses.
What is taught , and what is generally believed is that all matter functions based on quantum behavior.
For reference: "The largest entities for which the double-slit experiment has been performed were molecules that each comprised 810 atoms (whose total mass was over 10,000 atomic mass units)"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-slit_experiment
So physicists can show that Newton's Laws of motion fail at the molecular-level.
Certainly, you could be right, however, it would take a fantastic explanation.

This leads to a very selfish mentality, where people are convinced all their motives are the result of animal needs. When in reality, it is because of our fallen human nature, which happened after Adam and Eve in the garden. God created us in His image. Satan is the father of all lies, and the biggest lie that ever came from the mouth of Satan is that we were not created, but that we "evolved".
If you truly believe God made everything in 6 days then I have a question for you: define a day in the biblical sense. The only thing I ever see in Genesis is it was day, then night to define the day. OK, but is there any length to the day and the night? I've never seen any measurement of time in Genesis. Remember, this is YHWH, he is omnipotent and omnipresent. He can manipulate time any way he wants.
Given those assumptions, creationism and evolution can live harmoniously.
I believe that God made everything according to its own kind, whether it was 6 days, or 6 thousand years, I do not know. Evolution is a way to stamp out our Creator, God. It is used to control people. The very thing the atheists accuse Christianity of doing- evolution has done ten fold. Even the most die hard evolutionary scientists are questioning the validity of the Big Bang Theory.

The theory of descent with modification based on natural selection and genetic variation is one of the most corroborated scientific theories. We know understand the underlying mechanics of inheritance rather well although there are still many open questions.
Genetics and evolution where hooked up in the 20 th century and constitute a well supported theory.
The biblical account is just the sort of story bronze age dudes would tell. These people thought the earth was flat, believed the sun went around our flat earth and had no concept of how matter and energy worked. In short they were totally pre-scientific. So you can forget about taking the Genesis story literally.
Show me one verse in the Bible where it says the "earth is flat". Oh, that's right , it doesn't !
Flowering plants cannot propagate without bees to cross-pollinate for them.
Bees cannot survive without the nectar of flowering plants.
Either would cease to exist without the other. Which "evolved" first?
Evolution is not the final solution. As usual, arrogant humans insist they have all the answers, and as usual, they will be proven short-sighted. Mutation occurs, but mutation is not "natural selection," which is a myth.

Exactly! Earlier scientists are superseded by later scientists because science is self correcting and builds upon itself, as it moves toward a better sharper picture of reality.
That's how its supposed to work.
What is your point?
rvacountrysinger wrote:

well.....yes.
that's why it's called the "big bang theory" and not the "law of the big bang" or however.
same thing for the theory of evolution, though i'd guess most of the leftover questions there pertain to HOW it happens, and less to whether or not it happens.
i have a hard time comprehending how we will be able to definitively figure out HOW THE UNIVERSE BEGAN with out current technologies.

Don't believe any science as truth.
So you're saying that science is always wrong?
current science is merely our present, best understanding of things and there is always a possibility for it to be wrong, but it's hard to tell when we've arrived at the actual truth vs. arriving at a mere "best understanding" that still has holes in it.
never hurts to be skeptical...
