The presence of a few right wing members doesn't stop it being a safe space. By far and away the most vocal group on this forum is extreme left wing, with all the name calling, abuse and trolling that comes with it. You knew exactly what you wanted from this thread and as we can see, you got it.

The joys of the echo chamber :)

Right you think I want an Eco-chamber?

You want to see what I wrote to this guy to spur his reaction?

I'm not really interested in what the argument was. Marshall's post just stood out as all that is wrong with this type of clique environment; accusing others of everything you're guilty of yourselves.

I don't see most people on this forum living in the kind of eco-chamber Naked Ape does whereby all Democrats are Marxoid scumbags.

As a moderator who has to deal with the countless partisan spats on this site, I can say the following:

Right-wingers think this forum is massively biases towards the left, and left-wingers think this forum is massively biased towards the right.

I'm at the point I just smile and nod at both. :skull:

I understand that. During the several years where I put up with Farce Book's shenanigans at the same time liberal friends were calling me a misguided conservative I got kicked out of a couple conservative groups for being too liberal.
Go figure.
But they both might be right -
Q: am I liberal or conservative?
A: which issue is the subject at hand?

My brain likes to play with words:
What would be "The echoes of the joy chamber"?

Anyone can, and does, post on YouTube videos so it's not really an echo chamber, if you say something you can expect to be challenged.

I think you mean normal people think the forum has a left wing bias and those with the left wing bias think everyone who has a different opinion from them is a nazi.

I'd say this thread is fairly typical of most political threads on this forum so we'll let people read it and come to their own conclusions about who the vocal minority are.

The op has taken their debate from a forum they can't control where they are exposed to views that differ from their own, into a forum where he is safe from opposing views, where he knows people will abuse and insult the op's opponent and such abuse will not only be tolerated but protected. Furthermore the new space is also one in which anyone who doesn't support the op will also be abused and again that abuse protected.

For example I'll probably be called all sorts of names when I'm simply pointing out hypocrisy.

So kindly please tell me exactly *who* is using "protected safe space" to further their goals?

The difference is a large part of the internet "alt-right" is not about expressing views so much as going around intentionally insulting anyone they can, especially those they see as the most vulnerable to racist attacks. They go as far as they can go in whatever medium they are given. They will whine about being called "racist" by liberals in a moderated forum like this, but in an un-moderated forum like /pol/ they go around joking and laughing about "lynching n****rs". People can go around telling people it's all just a joke, but it becomes hard to believe after they've attracted a significant portion of blatantly open and sincere racists twaddling about in their midst.

More like you can expect to be insulted and called names by people who disagree. Few people's views are truly "challenged".

It certainly doesn't sound like this was simply an opposing view point...sounds like it was a bunch of rageful, hateful rhetoric from someone unreasonable. Who is more likely to engage in verbal abuse IRL or nasty flaming online than real discussion.

Also what attacks and abuses have been committed against the youtuber the OP posted about? When you spew a bunch of hateful bullcrap people are not obligated to only speak of you in the kindest terms.

I mean people like this are the real snowflakes they want spew a bunch of hateful, sexist, mean-hearted diarreha of the mouth then cry whenever anything not so nice is said about them.

I mean let me get this straight I should be able to just go up to someone and start spewing profanities at them and make nasty generalizations about them based on their ethnicity, gender, sexuality or happening to be liberal rather than conservative and expect them to treat me with the upmost kindness and respect? See that is not how it works, if you act like a nasty person people are going to want to distance themselves.

well that's not true....there's a lot of vocal right wingers on here as well. Hell half the time I just don't post because the constant drivel of how liberals are the enemy, liberals are to blame for this, liberals are to blame for that, gets a little old. I mean some right wingers even find a way to twist murders committed by individuals that had right wing veiws into being the fault of liberals. But then of course there are no issues whatsoever on the right, there's no issues with extremism on the far right or anything like that.

Quote:
"They're voting democratic because they're idiots, democrats are just p**** marxoids who don't think people should have to work for a living and the reason blacks are poor isn't because muh mean white people it's because 70% of blacks are born to unwed mothers. It's black behavior that causes black poverty, and demorats are just capitalising on guilty sh***ibs who've never experienced the ignorance and vice of the present black community to blame it all on muh raycism and gib more money fo dem programs.

I don't care if the republican party is literally trying to disenfranchise all democrats through gerrymandering, democrats are stupid pieces of crap and should be disenfranchised, and the only limit to that action should be the film of ethics that stops us doing things to you that you wouldn't do to us.

You're just some p**** ass libshit who thinks that wypepo are raycis and blacks need more gibs. f**k off, you're the reason why people are voting for david duke, but you're too f*****g stupid to realize it."

"I have a lot of better things to do than talk to some marxoid cockhead. Also, family breakdown is caused mostly by women, not by poverty."

I think normal people would find that to be unreasonable and rage filled rant without any real substance...just a string of insults.

I can see the substance of what they're saying, not to say it's not an abusive rant though. However my comments were related to what people say on here, those are comments taken from somewhere else and pasted here, and because you disagree and you're easily offended you consider it to be simply racist with no substance. As this is a safe space for that view (the op's) the thread has continued in kind. Maybe all these ultra right wing members I've been hearing about will join the thread.....
