If French is one of them maybe you could score extra brownie points for an application to Canada.

I'm sure this is true of most countries.. however, the USA is putting on quite the spectacle of stupid new laws lately.

I assume you're talking about them and not Canada, Mexico, Brazil, or any other country in the Americas.

Once people really travel, people realize what a great country the United States actually is.

I love other countries, love other cultures.

But the United States is getting a bad rap from other countries because of how they handled their foreign policy recently. And deservedly so.

But, if people really get around and actually meet people from all over the United States, they will realize it is not what the media paints our country to be.

I know, in New York, the cops go crazy whenever it is found that somebody has an illegal gun in his/her possession. They take guns very seriously there.

I am glad that I DO live in America!

I've definitely met and interacted with WAY MORE really REALLY good Americans on my travels throughout America than bad ones of any sort, that's for sure. I've been all over the Western 3rd or so of the USA all the way down to the Mexican border.

But, like anywhere, we've run into bad people, criminals, and just outright ignorant people.. like when I was a kid in Sandpoint Idaho, and the kids there were shocked to hear we were from Canada.. dressed in regular clothes, drove a regular minivan, lived in a house complete with electricity etc They're taught to believe that once you cross the border it's a barren frozen tundra full of polar bears and igloos. Meanwhile, in BC, the weather & climate isn't all that different from Washington state or even California at times - especially in the Summer. But that's just a USA-centric public education system and ignorance of their parents and people around them, I suppose.

My biggest problem with The US right now is that we have lunatics in our government who are actively spreading lies and misinformation about a deadly pandemic that is killing many people in this country. I personally already know three people who have died from the coronavirus and do you guys have any idea how much it infuriates me knowing that we have leaders like Robert DeSantis punishing schools for trying to protect our children by making them wear a simple mask or a psychotic b***h like Marjorie Taylor Greene saying and doing the batshit crazy things she does and nobody holding her accountable for it?

I really do get tired of some people trying to downplay how severe this s**t is.

Marilyn Monroe was quoted as saying "when they said 'Canada' I thought it would be in the woods somewhere."

Apparently she didnt know that Canada had large cities, and theaters.

America's been getting some pretty draconian laws lately. I'm glad I live somewhere I can be free.

Now , i see , this generation has shooter drills at their schools . Gotta wonder were all these
Shooter drills were before the internet. Mental health issues and guns and schools have been with us for a very long time. And heavily populated schools And neighbourhoods also have been around for
a long time . These issues have been magnified by our mass media. And this likely has been done intentionally to help control populace . One must wonder why all the bar shoot ups never get this attention, referred to as mass shooters, And how many years have we had bars , Was the massacre of Indian tribes referred to as mass murders etc.? But yet these are cited long before the school shootings .
So what is going on here ? But Is no one here old enough to remember the Nuclear War drills
Where the morons whom carried out these drills instructed by their higher ups In the educational system . And they were manditory school curriculum by the government offices that handed down these edicts . Even in Private schools. They would have you get under your desk, during a Nuclear War drill. ( Seriously) there was no hope of escaping that bomb unless you might have bomb shelter.
So there never was a nuclear exchange between big countries after WW2 .
How did us children of those times process these experiences . Do you really consider surviving the bomb under a desk. If there is a unexpected shooter at a school and they have planned it out .
And they are a determined gunman . Nothing short of a armed security person is going to help anyone. Why has the media/ government want children and people to grow up in a society of fear.?
What does that do to mental health for generations . You dont have to institute busing back in the 60 and 70,s to intermingle people into more densely populated areas ( desegragation). To expose these children from quiet areas with little exposure to drugs and violent crimes, Unless you wish to institute a certain kind if mentality into your children . So then you spread ideas of things that are lawless
to people whom would not have this exposure normally . Busing ...Giving rise to the spread of these ideas
into less populated areas. So concepts if drug abuse and various other unsavory concepts are now
in the minds of our children . Whom might normally have grown up and go into a more civil minded direction. Now because meth is,addictive and cheap to make the spread of meth use and production has even gotten into unpopulated areas of the desert and othe rural areas of the USA .
These are not my original ideas but ones that have been spread by people whom have been government whistleblowers whom worked in the education system. And published their experiences on the net and in books . Nothing like a society living in fear and having their basic values blurred

You're butting up against something I've been saying for a long time, that prior to the mass media era you could buy a machine gun over the counter for cash, order a rifle in the mail, buy dynamite at the hardware store, etc, and no one ever seemed to have thought to shoot up their school or place of work until comparatively recently. It's a media driven plague, though I wouldn't go so far as to call it intentional, but the coverage definitely feeds into more incidents as down and out losers see how much coverage these crimes get and realize they too can get all that attention by doing something awful.

I wonder if I could stow away on a boat and move to the islands?

old established Corporations own the larger Media outlets . Media ratings are driven by what Media believes will raise their ratings . This is a process of selection. And preference by the Corporate Owners . Corporations hire lobbyists in Congress , make donations to various political Campaigns .
both local and national . . This is only the tip of the iceberg . This process has gone on
for a very very long time in this Country . If your a Corporation were would your values lie in the very long run . Just btw please consider that Mercenary businesses are run by Corporations . Weapons manufacturers also . And various Corporations are merely smaller Corporations are Actually run by
Larger ones . And almost 2/3s of the US budget is geared towards the Military . Not humans .

Which islands? Most I can think of would lock you up as soon as they caught you. As an American, you might have a chance in Cuba, they'd lock you up but maybe if you could make a convincing case that you're a political refugee, in particular if you could become an international cause célèbre, you might get permission to remain there long-term. No idea how much better your life would be after that.

This reminds me of the old Andy Griffith show. A character named Howard decided he wanted to quit and go live on some island in the Caribbean. Apparently he was able to, but after a few weeks he found he had nothing to do with himself in his island paradise and returned to exciting Mayberry NC.
