Those reactions make more sense when you consider that OP is claiming that the US is “descending into socialism”, which is just an insane thing to claim, and that the video has openly been produced by the Ayn Rand cult, who aren’t known for being even-handed. One could just as easily tell them that if they don’t like the US then they should go and live in Somalia.

That being said, it’s alarming that some people are trying to defend Cuba, given Castro’s persecution of political dissidents and queer people.

Let it be noted that saying Turning Point USA aren't exactly credible is a gross understatement:

Those relying on this source and those being presented with articles from this source should be aware of their shortcomings and biases.

Their crisis is all filmed; the lines of Cubans waiting for gas and food are all filmed. All this can hardly be faked inside Cuba.

Judge the content, not the messenger.

My previous comment that this thread should be locked was motivated by an expectation that it can only lead to an argument as opposed to constructive debate of any sort. To me questioning the legitimacy of someone's sources is an argument. Admittedly this happens in most PPP threads but in this case it seems the only outcome possible.

What is the actual situation in Cuba is one thing.

But the reason for this state is another matter.
