I don't belong to any conformed religion. Including atheism. I don't believe in God, but there are many other things I do believe in.

The closest religion I am to anything would be Taoism.

The closest I can get to describing my religious beliefs is Agnostic/Jewish. I believe in some sort of higher power, but I'm somewhat skeptical as to whether it's God/Goddess or some other force. I also think the Torah/Bible is a good story and that there is historical value to it.

I saw an interesting show on the History Channel, a couple of years ago. It took some of the events from the Bible and explained how it could actually really have happened. Someone even gave a rational scientific explanation for the parting of the Red Sea.

Christian. I go to a Southern Baptist church, but there's so many view points I don't agree with. I consider myself non-denominational, which means I don't really stick to any one set of political/moral views. I perceive certain verses differently then the pastors at my church.

I was baptised Russian Orthodox, and raised that way, however the last time I set foot in an actual Orthodox church for worship was well over 20 years ago. In that time I've essentially has a falling out with the most basic concepts of Christianity as being completely at odds with logic. --IE, that Jesus was actually 'God made Flesh' and that when he was killed he rose from the grave, etc,etc...ad nauseam.

That being said, I like a lot of the concepts that are espoused by the other two main branches of the Abrahamic beliefs, but I find that Islam has been hijacked by a very loud, and very powerful Wahabbi minority.--It really puts me off. Judaism is a bit more appealing than Islam because it's a bit more mature, and more stable, however I really don't see the need to rush out and conform myself to it's traditions.

I've also taken interest in several Pagan beliefs, but again nothing has really impressed me enough to consider any major conversion.--I'm too culturally eclectic to truly adhere to any particular one of these beliefs. Furthermore, I also value the more primitivistic forms of Animism.

Eastern Philosophies such as Buddhism and Taoism also have their appeal,
and I take some of my beliefs from them, but again, I find nothing that really warrants believing in them exclusively.

So again, what Religion am I? I really follow none at all, though I don't reject out of hand the possibility of a greater spiritual force. I suppose in an outward sense the term "agnostic" fits, though I remain unclassifiable.

Are you sure you're not a SubGenius? Cuz isn't your avatar their supreme reverend Bob J. Dobbs?
As for me, I'm a secular humanist.

The Church of the SubGenius is essentially construed in two ways. A joke posing as a religion, and a religion posing as a joke. It's not entirely differant than Discordianism, in the respect that it's a very elaborate mindf---. --How can you go wrong with anything that admits of it's own volition that it contains more complete bulls--- than the entire Book of Mormon, as well as more thrills than a Pentecostalist Revival?

I tend to fall more on the side of it as being artfully crafted satire posing as a religious belief system. And yes, the Avatar is "JR" Bob Dobbs.

You didn't say anything wrong with, Gothic Christian, don't worry.

wow, full of agnostics, my people.

SpaceCase, I don't think there is anything wrong with being a Gothic Christian, but perhaps the fact that you felt the need to put Gothic Christian indicates that you yourself feel that being Gothic in some was conflicts with or detracts from your Christianity? If adding that you are Gothic helps you to describe yourself, then by all means do, but I just wanted to say that you shouldn't feel that you have to 'warn' people that you are Gothic. As you are saying that you aren't a member of a Gothic Christian cult, the bottom line is that your religious inclination is Christian: the Goth part just adds to that. It wouldn't matter if you were a one-eyed tattooed homosexual Goth with a fetish for vibrators: you would still be a Christian.

I hope that made sense. I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't tell people that you are a Goth, but for example, some homosexuals feel the need to say that they are a homosexual Christian out of fear that other people would deny their Christianity if they knew that they were gay. Don't feel that you *have* to justify yourself because you don't: you are who you are.

Phew, I'm feeling a bit long winded today! Sorry folks!

Agnostic. I believe in a higher power, but I don't believe that any certain practice or text is the right one.
